Re: Where would you move to if <not your candidate> wins in November?

Well, I wasn’t going to move, but now the prospect of the next ~46 days of toxic political discourse makes me want to.

Thanks, Sam!
After sitting on my butt since Nur Ein ended, I feel like I just ran a 10k without any preparation. And finished 4 days late.

Re: Modern democracy (was: COVID-19 freakout thread)

the Obama administration bent over backwards to find compromise I feel like if I cross-checked whether there were battles in congress over every Obama executive order, I could find some that don't fit your rosy narrative. IIRC Obama got trigger happy near the end of his term. Whereas Trump seems to...

Wow, TIL the Emancipation Proclamation was an executive order and it took ~3 years from then till the 13th Amendment. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emancipation_Proclamation Exactly. If you're against executive orders, then you're a racist! :P I think the important thing to realize is that Trump ha...

The Nur Ein database is contest-neutral and can accommodate all sorts of contests. I just never got to it, but it is a possibility if it's something people want. I was going to try it with the Circle of Songs a few years ago...

Good grief, for how long it took you, you probably could have bought 5 different pairs by now. :p

I am curious how your experience will compare to RTINGS empirical data.

Re: Modern democracy (was: COVID-19 freakout thread)

I just listened to a podcast that lays out the history and posits some interesting theories and observations. It might be exactly what you want, Caravan Ray. Common Sense with Dan Carlin - Show 319 - A Recipe for Caesar The TLDR is that the invention of the radio will be grouped with the invention o...

After a thousand years I have been cryogenically unfrozen to bring you my final set of liner notes: Thanks for doing all these, Adam! Re: Nur Ein XV Round Six "Homestretch"

If you have any suggestions for how exactly to fix the guitars that sound underwater or pointy depending on which headphones you're on, I'll gladly take them. In retrospect, my first listen was probably on my laptop. The headphones I use to mix are yet a different data point - guitar's less pointy,...

Re: Nur Ein XV Final Round "Pistols At Dawn"

Instead of editing the last New Ugly episode, I decided to bring my D game.

I had fun trying stuff, but I clearly have a lot of criticism for my own song here. Also it's probably "not in this moment"ed even though it's about how people dueled 200 years ago.

“Bring your A game” is a tough challenge, IMO, because it leaves no direction if you aren’t inspired by the title. RIP Nur Ein XI.

Thanks for the podcast! Although please never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever try to do an Australian accent ever again please!
You should check out Manhattan Glutton's Byron Bay.

Edit: Wow this song hasn't aged well. Good thing that guy doesn't come around here anymore.

I’m prob out of my element, but wouldn’t mass-loading the wall help? For example, mass-loaded vinyl. Can’t vibrate if it can’t move.

This is like a Usenet thread from 1996 See, Caravan Ray, nothing changes! It just takes 25 years to make it to Australia. Re: Modern democracy (was: COVID-19 freakout thread)

We don't blame a loss on the "quarterback" or the "pitcher". We play proper team games like cricket. That is your problem. You don't play cricket. And your need to have a "President" to personify success or failure - seems to relate to why USA people like games like Am...
