Re: Song Fight! Live 2019: Curds & Chords (Madison WI US 8/2-8/3)

Oooooh I didn't even realize this was coming up so soon! I've been out of town a lot over the last few weeks. I'll try to get my butt in gear with promoting as soon as I can.

How does the live fight title work? Do we agree on it and tell you? Or just post it here? When?

If anyone is still looking for housing, apparently on the 24th you'll have a chance to book the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile on AirBnB.

Re: Drifting along with the tumblin' (Tumbleweed Reviews)

miscellaneous owl—This gave me a chill the first time I listened to it, in the first verse; I don’t think I’ve ever experienced that on my initial listen to any song before. I think the whispering at the start was very effective in drawing in the listener and creating anticipation. I love the vocal...

Re: Drifting along with the tumblin' (Tumbleweed Reviews)

miscellaneous owl The vocal is nice, but it feels a bit more delicate than the arrangement behind her. Maybe put some reverb or delay on the vocal to make it sound more epic? I like it when the full harmony comes in. DEFINITELY spend more time writing a guitar solo please, the song deserves it. I d...

Nice! It sounds great. Congrats on being done with it. Also, sorry to have given more feedback than you wanted! This was definitely Picky Mode since you asked for input and I was comparing the two versions listening for the changes, definitely would not have bothered mentioning most of these things ...

Re: Song Fight! Live 2019: Curds & Chords (Madison WI US 8/2-8/3)

Yeah I was going off "Historically everybody has generally wanted to play for as long as possible."--> which to me, might mean they want to play for 2 hours :) The 30-45 mins I mentioned is usually on a 3 or 4-band bill, too. So playing for less time is totally fine. I just don't want to say "hey re...

Re: New Music Friday - 2019-06-28

I have not yet listened to either album, but Saturday night I went to a joint album release show for these two bands: Spirits Having Fun (Deerhoof-esque angular pop) and Hex House , some good friends of mine who just released their debut album (math and post-rock tinged post-hardcore). The bands wer...

If the semi-related things are butter and syrup, that sounds pretty OK. Or muppet extravaganzas.

iVeg, it seems fun to live inside your head (figuratively). I've always wanted to jump out of a bloody torso. Once I saw a Star Wars-themed burlesque where one of the dancers emerged from a tauntaun and did an entrails-covered striptease and it was truly inspirational This seems like a good time to...

Re: Song Fight! Live 2019: Curds & Chords (Madison WI US 8/2-8/3)

Looks like we have about 8 people so far across the 2 nights, and I'm assuming everyone is interested in performing a set. Plus the live fight. Someone with more experience should speak up as far as how this will affect set lengths--the sweet spot I tend to aim for in a normal show context is 30-45 ...

Re: Deals On Gear and Software

I went to their site and was mildly impressed that Stephen Sondheim is allegedly using this , but also I remembered that he's like 90 years old and probably types "Google" into Yahoo.com to search for stuff, so I am not taking any software endorsements from him. Also, this quote sounds like somethin...

Excellent! I kind of forgot how catchy this song was, now it's going to be stuck in my head, damn it. It already really sounds great overall, but you asked for feedback, so here are my thoughts after A/Bing the two versions. Let me add that I know some of the things I'm complaining about below are 1...

Re: The Guitar Doctor Is In

Hey guitar doctor, would I benefit from getting a tube amp (or making other changes to my equipment), and if so, do you have any recommendations? Right now I have a Fender Mustang III (v. 2) and a Fender Squier Telecaster . I like that this amp is light, which is great for carrying around to shows a...
