Re: Are there any cool art websites?
I would suggest http://www.wetcanvas.com/. There are catagories for all styles and media, which can make it a little confusing at first glance. But it's well worth a look.

"This distinctive, African-based 5/4 rhythm pattern (which goes bomp-bomp-bomp bomp-bomp) was picked up by other artists and has been a distinctive and recurring element in rock 'n' roll through the decades," according to the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame. It's not 5/4, though, just(!) synco...

This just in... Sanity : I give you props for the pensive mood of this piece. The keyboard tone is nice and lush. The tune's alright too. Like many of us here, your vocal tone is a bit weak. It's also a little slight in the lyrics department, but I enjoyed listening to your song. Andrewashereatmidni...

Jeeziz. That's the worst art I've ever seen. For anything. If it was your intention to coerce someone into making decent art for the next song, mission accomplished. Hell, I'll let my cat give it a shot.

Less thought. More soul. But I'm not dissing anyone who digs them. I'm just baffled is all. And I hear those songs every. stinkin. day. Whether I want to or not (NOT). Rage on, BLT.Billy's Little Trip wrote: Rush was a band that put some deep thought into music.

Re: Why do I think this is crappy when so many people love it?
Was Van Halen 's Eruption on that list? Why do I think this is crappy when so many people love it? I remember when the first album surfaced. There was simply nothing like it. Eruption was jaw-dropping at the time. Now that it has been digested and regurgitated ad nauseum by many others since, it ma...

Re: Why do I think this is crappy when so many people love it?
I'm Canadian. I'm a guitar player. I can't for the life of me understand why people like Rush. To me it's math rock at its most dull and humourless. Geddy Lee's voice should be illegal. And Alex Lifeson's tone is horrible (it was okay to splatter chorus on everything... in the eighties ) and his sol...

Re: Post Mardi Gras Depression (Empty Wednesday Reviews)
Accessory Twelve : I liked the sound of this tune. The breezy k'brd flourishes and metronomic bleep are great. The dropout section freshens it up nicely. So simple yet very nice. My only criticism is that the vocal melody isn't firm enough. Maybe if you laid down a track of the melody and sang alon...

When I woke up this morning, I was sitting on a cloud. I wanna open up the windows and turn the amps up loud. Midas touched my pocket, but lined my boots with lead. I'm planted in the garden with clouds of ether up in my head. Yesterday's as history as footprints in the sand. All day it's empty Wedn...

My brother and I were wrestling around and of course, rolled right into my '50's Hofner archtop that I foolishly leaned against the wall. Snapped it in half. After the World's Worst Repair (done by a local shop), it's still around. Cool guitar. Shame about the chunk of quarterround under the neck.

I think I'm in. I got a simple wee ditty with most of it recorded. Mixing is always an iffy proposition with me, tho. It's on, babyyy!

Re: It's...a new guitar!
I wasn't keen on the gold pickguard either. I was thinking of making a white pearloid one for it- until I realized it was actually aluminum. Now I like it alot. The rhythm switch bypasses the toggle and volume/tone knobs, and activates the two knurled sideways-type knobs. It's kinda like the filter ...

It's...a new guitar!
I just bought the J Mascis Jazzmaster and it's very cool. The sound is much like my freind's '64 Jazzmaster- big and round but bright. But this thing is deep. purple. metalflake. Absolutely jaw-dropping. With the gold anodized aluminum guard, yet. I never noticed, when playing my buddy's JM, that th...

chonny - Pulling a comparison on you, I hear Richard Butler singing this. I like the easy-going strum of this and think the harmonica fits well. The chorus is an interesting shift that took me a moment to grasp, but when I got it, I got it. Very nice. The slide parts are sweet and I dig those Tele ...

Dude, the lyrics was the sounds of the waves and the rain and the birds and the wind etc etc. The idea of the song was that of showing the sounds of nature. It fits the title imo. I'm sorry if you think I half-assed it but I think you just simply missed the point.[/quote] You're right, Rone. I misse...

If it truly is the vote you're after, I would suggest writing a song that is really catchy and easily digested. I don't mean offense to any of the vote-hoarders, I mean winners, out there. But most reviewers and listeners hear a song once, and decide on it's fate then and there. My 'favourite band' ...
