Re: A parade, or a marathon?! (A Grand Parade reviews)

Cannonade Streete : I enjoyed the overall vibe here. In the middle sections, the tambourine seems to feel a bit lonely. 1:21 might be a nice spot to switch up the percussion. Ah, but then the drums return and the sun is out again. Caravan Ray : Yes, this is fun. I really enjoyed the layers of vocal...

Re: A parade, or a marathon?! (A Grand Parade reviews)

Abjure! :This is delightful. I enjoyed how the vocals fill everything out so nicely that the uke needs nothing else. That said, it could be a nice touch to swap out a vocal section for a twee instrumental interlude or similar. Abominominous : This is fantastic. I enjoyed how well the instrumentatio...

That was awesome! Really enjoyed all your sets. I have an earworm of the amazing "I Fell Flat" performance from Glenn & friends. (Heine: I noticed Glenn's beards too, I couldn't tell which was the before and the after. :) )

Welcome back! I've gotten this one before too :(
Best not to take it personally. At least, that's what I keep telling myself!

Dancer in the Dark could be the single most depressing film (fiction) I've seen. Beautiful movie, although I do like to limit my uncontrolable waterworks to 5 minutes per sitting.

I'm contemplating the Buffy musical/episode...

Then yes, I suppose it counts. :) Just thought some movies & tv shows might be excluded if they were never staged as a play. ie. Spinal Tap or Team America:World Police instead of Oklahoma or JC Superstar.

QotD: The value of our house decreased by 25% since we bought it in 2000, not including the cost of improvements like new windows and landscaping. If we were to sell now, it would be pretty tough for us to give somebody a break and come down on price, just cuz we'd consider our asking price to be a ...

Re: Bass Overdrive/Effects?

The problem with distorted bass is that most guitar distortion pedals cut out the lows which make a bass sound full. What you really want is a way to blend in a distortion with your clear low end. Thanks! I hadn't thought of that! :) Maybe running a clean channel alongside the distortion is just wh...

Bass Overdrive/Effects?

Does anyone have experience with bass effects? I'm looking to effects for two purposes: #1. I'm in a 3-piece garage band and I'd really like to fatten+gritty up my bass tone & fill up as much space as I can. For that, my first thought is a bass friendly tube overdrive tone.... Between the guitar...

If you want to just make one purchase and be done with it, get the Bass POD XT Live . Not only does it have everything you need all in one, like foot volume, tuner, stereo and mono outs and USB to download FX paks. But it has the best cab, mic and amps mods I've ever heard, all the most famous FX, ...

Re: Monday, 1st June, 2009

Henrietta, you know you can get pedals that do rotary speaker effect, right? For example: http://www.musiciansfriend.com/navigation?q=univibe Nice!! I'd only come across a Hughes & Kettner pedal which cost nearly 3x as much. Thanks for the link! I hadn't even considered the stereo output/dual a...

Re: Monday, 1st June, 2009

QotD: Figure out how to replicate in a live setting the same kind of bass effects I've been getting in Cubase. My recordings for Nur Ein used various distortion & 'rotary speaker effect' combinations. I'm hoping that overdrive & flanger pedals might get me pretty close?

Wow, great job everybody!! Ranked by personal chill factor: Signboy: I love this song. The chorus just seals the deal for me. Re: Nur Ein IV: Round Four

the bassline in the verses is ripped straight from "Handle With Care." OMG! Good thing I changed it up after one verse. It's funny because after I recorded it, I thought "Huh. Is that 'More Than a Feeling'? {checks nets} Nope! Whew. What a relief! I definitely invented this......
