Re: songfight on turntable.fm

It's a free/open source streaming server, so you're not beholden to some crap-ass proprietary plugin windows-only advertising machine. It works on any computer. You give it some source files (like the songfight playlist) and then tell people's media players/browser/whatever to connect to http://foo/...

Update on the lineup - where it says "irwin" should be "Kasper." Irwin and Mike Lamb are the duo known as Kasper.

Re: SF Live 2011: New York City (June 11-12)

I PMed this to Niveous, but I will also post it here. There are tons of instrument/amp rental places in NY, and I would be happy to contribute some cash to renting an electric bass/amp.

Is anyone going to have an electric 4 string bass I can play on Saturday? I'd prefer not to take mine on the plane.

Re: GarageBand vs. Pro tools

Pro Tools locks you into a VERY limited set of hardware. Reaper seems to be a lot of value for little/no money, and is a completely fully-featured DAW. I think if I was starting over, I'd probably look at Reaper. If I had some kind of plan to work in the recording industry, I'd probably go with ProT...

Re: the cure cover fight!

I say post an arbitrary deadline whenever you think appropriate. You could manage the songs people cover, I guess, or just let people cover whatever they want. You might end up with 7 "Just Like Heaven"s but you might get some interesting stuff too, with low overhead. :-)

LML: Do you have a track that we can hear? The one you submitted is so quiet, I can barely hear it even with everything maxed out.

EDIT: This is one of my favorite tracks of this fight, but holy crap, I have the volume on my 100W amp at max to barely hear it!

Re: 05/14/10 - Zephyr Vegetarian Cafe - Long Beach

We're just packing up the gear now. We have plenty of inputs and outputs, phantom power, etc. We'll probably leave in about an hour (3pm-ish). We don't know how long it'll take to get from Eagle Rock to Long Beach, but I expect we'll get there a bit early. 916-842-1454 if anyone needs anything in pa...

Re: 5/12/10 ROAD TRIP!!!

My only Spokane regret was taking 66 to Ashland instead of 140 to Medford on the way home. 66 looks WAY shorter on the map, but it was a bitch of a drive, (I hate heights, cliffs, etc., and this was all of the above,) and took forever. We should have known when the sign said truck detour to 140 that...

I just listened to it, I'm sure I can play bass for it. Multi-ukes might have to share a mic or two. :-)

Can anyone who is planning on coming please PM me with their equipment needs that you are NOT providing yourself? I scanned over the thread, but I didn't see too many specifics. We do not have a PA specifically, but will be using amps and mixers to cover it. I want to make sure we have enough inputs...

Enter it in the Art Show - In a word, eclectic. I didn't think I'd like this at first, but I ended up being very pleasantly surprised. Great lyrics, great instrumentation, love the harmonies. Really unusual rhythmic composition. I thought it was going to be loose and all over the place, but it turn...

Re: Circle of Titles

Ross, I already mentioned this on IRC, but that was tremendous. You truly outdid yourself on the lyrics. Fantastic.

Thanks for organizing this Jon! I hope you like your song. The title fought me tooth and nail, but once I got lyrics down, it came together pretty good. :)
