[Meta] Nur Ein website will begin correcting MP3 tags

In the near future, I plan on adjusting the website to overwrite specific tags so that listeners who download the songs can understand what and who they're listening to on players that display track information. The tags that will be overwritten are: (edit: adding some from here ) Name - this will b...

Gibson declares bankruptcy

Gibson guitar maker files for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection

Summary: Guitar sales went down as e-music became more popular, and so the company invested heavily in branding and innovations that maybe didn't work out so well. They're reorganizing and going through the bankruptcy motions.

Re: DAW-talk

FWIW, I didn't find Reaper's automation intuitive either, and the playhead/zooming drives me nuts no matter how I change the settings (I'm not sure there is a way to make it intuitive and that's possibly a user defect on my end). On your last point, that niche is maybe filled with ' subprojects ' wh...

Re: DAW-talk

No amount of theming will make it better. I can't disagree. You can achieve extensive customization via plugins , options, and keyboard mappings, but it doesn't get to the root of the problem that a lot of things are simply not intuitive and aren't customizable. However, Reaper does have advantages...

how can I "good enough" sound isolation for this room?

Situation: I have a practice space that is mostly isolated from the rest of the house, but it leaks noise in the following ways: * ceiling - need insight * door - I plan on getting a heavier door and managing the cracks with weather stripping and a door sweep. * vents - I plan on using radiant barri...

WHEW LADS. I have a two week vacation to the Czech Republic and I think I come back the weekend round 0 is due.

Mike may or may not make it.

But the New Ugly podcast will be doing episodes focused on this again, hopefully tighter with a year of practice.

Dang it, I purposefully didn't throw you under the bus. :) Anyway, I *am* (slowly) replacing the site. You can check out my test page by replacing 'titles' in the path. Example: http://nurein.songlander.com/test/7C86E070BB4D76744A6869B9F9195BD6 The test page is never guaranteed to work so let's keep...

I almost always listen to albums as a whole if I bought the album. Depends a little on the artist and quality of the album.

Re: Hidden Figures

This movie didn't know what it wanted to be. It threw in some Civil Rights callouts as non-sequiters. It threw in some romance sequences, again, for no reason. The threads didn't tie together. The characters were compelling in theory, but thinned out so that Hollywood could meet their yearly quota i...

Re: Assassin's Creed

I agree- it suffered from poor pacing. It's a pretty complicated story to fit into a movie. If they had a contract for 3 movies off the bat they would have paced it a lot better. The unfortunate situation is now they've gotten past the lore bootstrap and could make a great action-packed sequel, but ...

Re: La La Land

The only thing I'm trolling about is California. Some people have convinced me California is okay sometimes. :) If the measure of "good art" is how many feelings it evokes, then La La Land wins because it makes me want to burn everything to the ground. Every time I felt slightly invested i...

Maybe slight exaggeration, but this was coming off the heels of seeing "Arrival", "Hidden Figures", and "La La Land". I've never been so underwhelmed in my life.

Re: La La Land

Well Sam, I'm glad you brought up my favorite topic. :) :) :) :) "La La Land" is a compelling thesis on why California should drift off into the sea. I seriously can't remember the last time I was that angry and disappointed from a movie. You go in expecting a "musical" and get a...

Re: Assassin's Creed

It was the best movie of 2016, which isn't saying much. As a huge fan of the game, I was happy it stayed true to the material and generally pleased they didn't completely screw it up, but it seemed to lose steam at the ending. I think the franchise as a whole has a lot of potential if they'd get a g...

Re: What's up in Portland? Enquiring minds want to know

We have a whole generation of folks who grew up learning about the hardships of the Great Depression, struggle for Civil Rights, two World Wars... They are looking for their Own Purpose. They want a Fight.

And that Fight is against the Tortilla Nazis.
