Re: Old flesh (Young Blood prefight)

In. I ended up tossing out the first music setting and just kept the lyric. I think I'm happy with this one!

Re: You Gotta Put A Ring On It (Hitched Reviews)

I'm using Band in a Box which generates a MIDI signal to a Roland XV 5050 rack synth, which then feeds analog into the digital recorder. I haven't been able to find a "randomize" either rhythms or levels function in BIAB. I used to record to a Tascam 388 (eight tracks on 1/4" reel tap...

Re: You Gotta Put A Ring On It (Hitched Reviews)

Glennny - yeah, it's your usual comment, but you're entitled, 'cause you're right. Drum machine, played by Band In a Box, every week. You'll hate my "Young Blood" even more, I let BIAB play the piano part as well, 'cause it does a better job than I could. And that's kinda what's behind me ...

Re: Old flesh (Young Blood prefight)

Should be in this week, just realized the songs aren't due Tuesday, they're due Thursday. The trombone section isn't bringing the rawk like they're supposed to, but I've got some time to sort that out...

Re: You Gotta Put A Ring On It (Hitched Reviews)

Thanks for getting the reviews started. Two rhythm guitars, lead guitar, bass, organ and drums. Two BVs on the chorus, mixed low. But I'll take your comment as an indication that the sonic space feels crowded, too much reverb or not clean enough. I'm trying to work my way back into my clever recordi...

Re: When will we be done with MP3s (if ever)?

Jumping in on this thread a year late, but as long as we're submitting songs via email, that may also be a problem with .wav filesizes, tho' I know that's something that could be changed to a submit form. Also, maybe this is something that could be automated, or maybe it's already done and I just ha...

Re: Song Fight! Jukebox

Perhaps noteworthy? My ten song streak started with my very first SF song, while I was working full time, and ended with the song I submitted the week I got laid off (and haven't been back to work full time since, now consider myself "retired") You would think that with "all that free...

HITCHED / King Arthur I woke up one morning, and I said to myself I think I'd rather be anywhere but here You know I just felt ready to let my home town Disappear in some stranger's mirror. Now I'm twenty miles further down the road less traveled Than I was when I went to sleep last night. Woke up t...

Re: Dry Spell

Gee, I remember when I was a kid and the grownups would complain about how "you couldn't understand the lyrics..." maybe they were right... a couple corrections: - thermos full of coffee - every source of revenue is drying up - nobody's payin' taxes - you still can't hide - and, yeah, I di...

Re: Covering random songs from the archive

Thank you, Paco! Hey, I recognize the song! One of those where I knew I was stretching the title further than I probably should have. I like the harmonies, everything. Like the way it slows down at the end, like the last 30 seconds of the song were a speed trap :-) I'm posting a couple corrections t...

Re: Making it legit (Hitched prefight)

So it's 2 am and I have a song, but I'm gonna wait 'til the morning to send it in so's I can listen and decide if it's just too cheezy to submit. It's pretty cheezy (the songwriting part).

Re: Seal it with handshake (Good Faith reviews)

Well, okay, you can probably tell I'm 20-30 years out of date in terms of music styles 'n' stuff, but I just try to check in once or twice a year. I've been doing some songs over at singmeastory.com (under my real name, Charles Wolff), where the weird stories the kids write maybe fit my style a bit ...

Good Faith / King Arthur There's a kind of faith that wants to lock you up / if you won't play their game. There's a kind of faith that sees you suffering / and tells you you're to blame. There's a kind of faith that only works / if it can make you feel ashamed I've looked around and I've got to say...

Re: You've gotta have (Good Faith prefight)

Making my first 2016 appearance, this one is kinda churchly, or maybe anti-churchly, I dunno. Featuring my recently restrung and finally in tune 12-string guitar and (maybe new since my last entry) Korg CX-3 Hammond simulator. Be kind, I'm just doing this so I can catch & pass Steve Durand in th...

Would be interesting to hear what you'd do with "Red Skates" but I appreciate the song you did. Thanks!
