Complain about your schedule. Apparently people like that sort of thing.

February 8th, 2010 - Spud must have REALLY strong bones

Postby Billy's Little Trip » Mon Feb 08, 2010 1:37 pm

If you downed one too many while watching the Super Bowl, here's at least one reason to hold your head high: Drinking beer can be good for your health.
But seriously, a new analysis of 100 commercial beers shows the hoppy beverage is a significant source of dietary silicon, a key ingredient for bone health.
Yay! > http://news.yahoo.com/s/livescience/201 ... ryourbones

Why drinking beer is your moral responsibility and important for our future and our children's future. In the words of BLT.
1. It stimulates the economy. The more you drink, the more you are helping.
2. It contains silicon, so it makes your bones stronger. Stronger bones mean less broken bones, which is very important for world peace.
3. Beer cans and bottles are recycled. This recycled material goes on to make medicine and paper for doctors to write prescriptions on. Plus it creates jobs and stops global warming.

I feel it is everyones civic duty to do their part to save the planet. Think of the children.
Thank you,
BLT

Question of the Day: How much beer do you drink on a monthly average?
For those that don't drink beer, why do you hate the Earth?

I go through phases. Sometimes I'll have a beer a day for a whole month, sometimes it'll be a month between beers. I feel no moral conviction one way or the other when it comes to alcohol.

I just got back from Asheville, NC. That is a good town for drinking beer. It is rare for me to have more than three beers on a given night though. And, like Fluffy, I'll go long periods without drinking. In my case, it's a matter of scheduling. I could be a howling drunk if I could just find the time.

It is nice to be home. Big thanks to those of you who ordered my new CD, even though most of the song titles will be recognizable to SF regulars. :) I want to fight again, but fulfilling my GoM obligation is first on the list.

I ordered your CD specifically BECAUSE it is a Song Fight album, as I have a (rather large) collection of Song Fight albums. I try to buy every single one that comes out.

Well, you see, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the heard is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Now, as we all know, excessive intake of alcohol kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. And that is why you always feel smarter after a few beers.

QotD: *Way* more than I should. Seriously, I'm not kidding, *way* more than I should.
Who can drink just one beer though? I figure if (as has been suggested by people in the medical/health industry since antiquity) one drink a day is good for your health, 6 or 7 is 6 or 7X as good for you, right? You can't have too much of a good thing.

I drink just one beer. Then I drink another one. And then another one. See?

Actually, I haven't drank a beer in a long time. I do drink wine about 4 nights a week. Usually 2 glasses. I love wine.

I love wine too, but usually one glass is more than enough for me. Red wine in particular gives me a headache pretty quickly, and there are few white wines worth drinking.
