Is anyone dropping this round - if they are, I feel slightly precarious. My vox are awful. But I am very happy with my song. It is meant as a lullaby for the apathetic and disinterested.

Sorry for those near the bottom - but this really is all killer no filler. The judges are going to have to be harsh. It is good that they are all such fine upstanding and talented gentlemen. And did I mention handsome!

Some not too clever reviews reassembled into an 'If I Was A Judge' kind of order

Tiny Robots, So far above the benchmark it's unbelievable, can't wait for the 8-track Tiny Robots Nur Ein Album!
(is it too early to pick winners???)
Best Whistling so far!

WreckdoM, Ive compared you before to PWEI circa there Black Country Massacre Album, now this is just a step above all that grungy nonsense as is a genuine Rock Monster, Fantastic Lyrics, Brilliant Vocals, I love the fact that you don't make a big thing of the whistling, excellent!

Ross Durand, change of pace as Ross Durand makes a more than welcome entrance, I always look forward to tracks by Ross, and I'm not sure if it's because I know he's a teacher or anything, but I just feel a sense of childish awe as wisdom is once again imparted, genuinely marvellous track.

John Kloberdanz, Oh yeah, this is just so November 1959, this'd be a regular on my iPod.... whoo "act cool, here's he comes."
perfect whistling style.

Cock, Oh shoot who does this remind me of, s'brilliant... a touch depeche mode, vocal style is excellent... yes it's definately depeche mode, the techno hand claps are a little annoying after a while and I completely missed the whistling bit?? (I'll listen again, it's probably me).

Tex Beaumont & The Dirty Hearts, I'm abolutely loving the 'Tom Robinson-esque' vocals, (can't believe I've never noticed that before), a touch 'safe' a little too much lullaby and not enough quirkyness, probably not quite your usual high standard, but still better than most peoples best!! (whistling comes naturally to Australians, so thats a no fair!)

Paco del Stinko, ah now what was I saying about trademark quirky lyrics, bouncingly brilliant, with a whistling outro this could've ended after 55 seconds and left me gasping, as it is the break maybe goes on a little long, c'mon charlie bring back the bouncing, there y'go, fascinatingly dark track!!

Nouveau Pauvre, great band name, magnificent production, stonkingly good vocal style, terrific bass driven groove, the break is great (if a little sudden...!), with 30 seconds left I do find myself hoping for another layer, then that shakey synth/pad comes in, cool.

Jon Eric, that "No no no no no" intro is especially good, I do hope you reprise that somewhere later in the track.... oh yeah, there you go go go, this is pop-goodness, I especially like the fact that the frailties in your voice have been used to such a strong advantage, double whistling is a nice effect, if anything a touch overlong.

Sheail, Damn, what a lovely track, slight 'victim of the alphabet' following Ross Durand and having a 'similar-ish' style, the whistling is a let down, but I'm thinking there wasn't many takes to this, which makes it even more impressive!

Rabid Garfunkel, Drumming seems a little distant, and that's a really big nit-pick to what is essentially a pretty damn big kick up the arse track, I found myself actually looking over my shoulder for the wolf in question, with a more upfront drum line this'd easily be a killer track!

Frankie Big Face, Such a great casual style, comes across as effortless, the whistle I'm afraid does tend to grate a little, and becomes distracting, overall such a superb slice of lazy summer pop, if maybe a little repetative.

Chopped Liver Meat God, Awesome, intro, I'd love to hear that fluttery keyboard line, double with a ghost pad or some such, nice intensity to the vocals, high parts are.. ok!
Whistling part works really really well, in fact after the break, everything is maybe a little unnecessary, but cool nonetheless.

Adam Adamant, excellent intro, totally love the way the alarm clock fades out underneath that late 80's indie groove, everything after that is maybe a little disappointing, would've liked less piercing whistles, (who am I to talk?).

Andrew Reist, Whistles are a touch shrill, but I'm really loving the gng style, probably some handclaps wouldn't go amiss, rather than the ?spoons? very good vocals.

Billy's Little Trip, Ooh that's a cool mother of an intro, after that it's maybe not as grungy as it really wants to be, whistling part doesn't really work too well, if the whole break had just been that with maybe a hi-hat, vocals seem strangely subdued??

Glenn and Rachael, I'm sorry and maybe this shouldn't be said but, there is something just a little 'Carpenters' about this and I love it so much, but there's a potential to this track that always seem just beyond it, but it is great potential.

Test Week Hiatus, Some nice lyrical twitches, for what sounds like a rather hurried entry, (sure I read that somewhere!!), and if my memory serves me well, then this track is more remarkable for that fact, I'm sure you know it sounds a little empty, there are sections which are crying out for extra intrumentation, " they cut me up and put things in me!" blimey!!!

Swilington, a little bit of a jarring intro, and another in the 'monster under the bed' theme, liking the section after the metronome count-in (just after the intro), which turns out to be the rest of the song, so a big plus there!

Howl Down the Chimney, This track is slipping into my sub-concious and I reckon it'd be a good idea not to listen to this too close to bedtime, would love a big instrumental finish.

Signboy, That's some haunting vocals, coupled with some excellent whistling accompaniment, it gets a little messy just after the intro, and as more of the song progresses tends to lose that initial 'wow' factor, but for a moment there were 'chills'

Student Band, very lovin' spoonful, in fact this is very true to your band name, there are a couple of changes that are a touch ... clumsy! or sound a bit ... unwieldy is a better word, buckets of potential here,.

Todd McHatton, Not sure of the terminology, but I'll have to say that this sounds a little... full at the bottom end!
bass heavy perhaps!!... nice melodic track, carried very well by the vocals, whistlings a bit off, but no worse than any others...

Nigel Clements, :) weakest of the bunch with what I hope will become trademark quirky lyrics, needs to be played loud!
"..... we are dating" is the best line!
Breathless whistling nearly doesn't get there!
(where the hell is Cynthia??)

MC Eric B, have to say I’ve just listened to this twice through, and have been a little disturbed both times, not sure if that’s what you were after, there is something creepy here (it’s probably my warped sensibility), don’t remember any whistling though, which is strange as they've evaded me twice??? I'll listen again!

Thanks for the reviews Nigel, the whistling in our song is a call and response whistle/stylophone after the first chorus. :)

I'd like to take my chorus (the part with the whistling), throw it in the trash can, squirt lighter fluid on it and toss in a lit match. I really wanted the extreme changes, but I was having a hard time getting the chorus to feel right going from the pre chorus to the chorus.
Curious, which part were you referring to when you said "if the whole break had just been that with maybe a hi-hat"? Are you referring to the bridge? (the part with no vocals)
Thanks for the review Nige. As much as I like Cynthia, I really enjoy listening to you on lead vocals. Sounds like you're getting comfortable with your delivery and I like that, a lot.

Fantastic job everyone!
My goal is to do more reviews for this Nur Ein!, as I have left the comments to lunkhead in the past. But having just had the epiphany that I have been involved with SongFight! for over 5 years... I feel the need to make some more effort to give some feed back.

Tiny Robots- That's us! We have reformed like Voltron to participate in Nur Ein IV! Working full time and going to school at night is hard enough! I am looking forward to recording some new stuff.

WreckdoM- You always sort of scare me, but I have listened to you now for such a long time that you are almost a comfort....almost.

John Kloberdanz- not really familiar with your stuff yet, but nice whistling.

Cock- Very circa 1983. I like this song in the same way that I enjoyed "just can't get enough" (depeche mode) back in the day when I would sneak out of my parents house as a teenager and go to "new wave" dance clubs.

Tex Beaumont & The Dirty Hearts- Excellent whistle. You have a great story telling style per usual.

Paco del Stinko-A little creepy. There is something about your vocal delivery that is a bit maniacal!

Nouveau Pauvre- Thank goodness for the ladies of Nur Ein! Bring it on!

Jon Eric- Loooong whistling part. Solid track, well done.

Sheail- More whistle/cowbell.

Rabid Garfunkel- This song makes me want to pour myself a double shot of whiskey and smoke a cigar.

Frankie Big Face-FBF...I may regret saying this... but... your song is really cute! Not "fluffy bunny "cute, but on it's way there. It is a little long though.

Chopped Liver Meat God-Awesome name, even better whistle.

Adam Adamant- Not too crazy about that whistle, track is all right though.

Andrew Reist- You are such a double threat Andrew. (drums, vox, ) I look forward to hearing more.

Billy's Little Trip-I am really into the intro. Whistle doesn't really work for me, but it could be my crappy computer speakers (sorry, i am at work).

Glenn and Rachael- LOVE IT. I want to snuggle up and take a nap.

ok.. I have a meeting.. more reviews later......
