Mysterious and beautiful. Um, I guess that's one way to put it. Anyway, my hope was to do at least as well as we had before, and we accomplished that. And we have six new songs we wouldn't have had otherwise. So that's all great.

Leave it to Nur Ein to find a new way to make that not entirely satisfying, though. I still feel like Ken got royally screwed at the end of Nur Ein III with the way that tie was handled. That was in the name of following a precedent. Now apparently following that precedent is not important? I'm sure it's fun to make up the rules as you go along, but I think it would be better for the contestants in the future if things were consistent and prominently displayed up front. One brief mention in the thread for Round Two doesn't seem like a great place to reveal that the 7th judge will be used as a tie breaker, for example. Also, more judges equals more chaos, it seems like, so sticking to five main judges seems like a better way to go than letting more people judge just because of mistakes that were made when promising judging slots.

Anyway, great songs this round, and great work to the contestants. Thanks to Niv and the judges, minor nuisances aside.

But I swear I'm never doing this again! ... Until next year. ;)

It would be cool if it were done more like Olympic scoring, such that the scores wouldn't be so weird.

But then, if it were fair and made sense, what would we blame losing on? Ourselves? Yeah, right.

I mostly blame it on that one judge that ranked us last. I'm going to figure out who you are and punch you in the neck! :P

Sigh.

I've been too stressed lately to add another thing onto my shoulders. Plus Nur Ein is supposed to land in the fun category. So, for the sake of that fun (and if the other judges don't mind and I don't think they do), I am willing to have Merisan in the finals. But the all the songs better have killer guitar solos. I want a Glenn vs. Sam vs. Paco guitar war. That would make this awesome.

Indeed, Niveous, it is supposed to be, and is, fun. I'm feeling guilty for getting credited with the win. Especially when I don't think I had the best song. However. If Merisan is climbing aboard, and there is a guitar battle looming, please let us know ASAP. I need all the time I can get to fight for my survival. And, as always, NUR EIN!!!!!!

I welcome Merisan into the final fight (I speak only for me, not the other 4 guys, not sure how they feel about it).

Although I will call them Squerikywheeln. ;)

I certainly hope you know my campaign of capital letters was only playful ribbing. I mean, I think they should be in it, but I don't think anyone is upset. And I certainly didn't mean to invoke a written sigh. ;)

Wow, that's very cool of you, Niv. I was mostly just kidding around. I'm not personally upset about the situation. I just don't always like Nur Ein's slippery nature, but that's just my problem of not being able to completely accept it for what it is. I think Paco and TWSA both earned their spots in the finals with great songs. Paco, your song was by far my favorite this round. Enjoy a well deserved win. TWSA, your song was amazing, too. It almost seems unfair for any one person to have to compete against you guys. Good luck to Paco. You're going to need to be a one-man army. (Or if you want some extra guitar soloing, I'm available.) ;)

I'd like to compete against Merisan in the final round.
I sent Lunkhead a mathematical proof, so he no longer has to be upset about Nur Ein 3

We're all friends, this is super fun!

I welcome the competition!

I've got a simple scratch pad-idea down. No commitment, yet. So is it triple guitar battle? An un-official challenge for the now three finalists? I will be back online at midnight, EST. The suspense will be killing me, but perhaps a re-boot will be good. Do discuss. :) NUR EIN!!!!!!

None of the other judges have chimed in on the idea of Merisan returning but I'm pretty sure they'll be in.

As for the guitar war, that's my personal challenge to you, Glennny and Sam.

That's nice of you guys. I'm pretty sure Erin and I were OK with being eliminated, in spite of my complaining, but I will check with her about it.

Also, here's what I didn't like about how Nur Ein III Round Six's three-way tie for second place was resolved. Ken was the clear winner. If he had gone into a one-on-one final round (as would have happened without a second place tie, or if there had been a tie breaker of some sort), he would have had a 50% chance of winning. Instead he went into a four contestant final round, in which his odds of winning were only 25%. His odds of winning were cut in half.

OK, confirmed with Erin. We appreciate the offer, but we're out. Sorry about my whining. I was more just trying to make suggestions about next time, not seriously expecting things to change this time.

So, that means Paco, as the clear winner of the last round (not including alt judge) has just been shafted by having his chances cut from 50% to 33%?

(BTW - I support Merisan being in the final 100%)

We are working on having these rules carved into the face of Mt Rushmore, but until that can be finished - it is still there in thread for Round Two - in black-and-white.
