Re: Naming a Band
oddly enough, according to my searches on this topic, if i wrote the name of the street i grew up on, you could find it exactly since i think it's the only one by that name anywhere.

Also, I don't want to imagine the porn engendered by a star whose first name is "Baggins" or even "Bags"...

Re: Naming a Band
I just came across this handy formula....
HOW TO CREATE YOUR BAND NAME & ALBUM COVER:
1 - Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random”
or click http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Random
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.
2 - Go to Quotations Page and select "random quotations"
or click http://www.quotationspage.com/random.php3
The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your first album.
3 - Go to Photobucket and view the most recent pics
or click http://photobucket.com/recent/images/
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.
4 - Use Photoshop or similar to put it all together.

Henri, you must have missed the thread where we did this AND everyone made a song to go with it. It was a pretty fun idea.
Here is the thread
Here's mine. Kind of odd. Hoblit is the answer the phone guy.

Re: Naming a Band
It's never too late to par tay! Actually, most people just did the picture part. But it's kind of fun writing a song based on a picture and an album name. Truth is, I have to give myself mental images to write music anyway. It would also be much easier for me to write a themed album this way. I've always wanted to do an album where all the songs tie together then the last song is the grand finally that brings the album to full circle.Henrietta wrote:Awesome! Re: Naming a Band
Like a concept album, but with a string of photos inspiring the story? That sounds like a good sidefight!
I know I'm not supposed to cheat, but I couldn't bring myself to exploit someone else's baby's photo. That's gotta be bad karma or something. So, I hit refresh on photobucket and took what came up next. It's just so... pleasant...

Um, what do you guys think of TRASH?
I know it has negative connotations, but it also has rocking connotations as far as I can tell.

Sounds like GARBAGE, I like it. I'd be very surprised if it hasn't been used before.Reïst wrote:Um, what do you guys think of TRASH?

Re: Naming a Band
I did a quick check, and it looks like no bands of note have used it. There were a few in the 60s/70s, but they're all broken up now. There's a few bands called Trash Band and one punk band called Trash from toronto, but it looks like they've been on hiatus since 2003 and don't look too notable. Also a shitty lo-fi hardcore band and experimental guitar dude on myspace. What do you guys think? Are these bands too well known for me to take the name to be my own?
Haha, I could use Tra$h. That's pretty killer, I think. I might just up and use that one, assuming you guys give me some positive feedback.

TRA$H looks like a blowhard punk rap name.
I still don't understand why you don't want to use REI$T INF3CTION.
