Was that blue Squire (?) bass at SFLive12 Mike's? That played really well.

BTW the cheap-ass bass I'm playing at the moment is an OLP Musicman copy, 2 humbuckers, passive. It plays reasonably good but the pickups are a little shite. Haven't gotten around to replacing them yet. I don't really play enough bass anymore to justify getting a nice one.

In case anyone is looking for useful advice in this thread, I would just like to say that my current cheap-ass bass of choice is made by Xaviere:

Ken's Super Duper Band 'n Stuff - Berkeley Social Scene - Tiny Robots - Seamus Collective - Semolina Pilchards - Cutie Pies - Explino! - Bravo Bros. - 2 from 14 - and more!

That same company made that yellow hollow-body electric that Roymond has brought to the last few SFL events. It's a very nice instrument, and it didn't cost an arm and a leg.

But mostly...it's yellow.

I think it was $175 and I payed Chelsea Guitars to set it up for $60.

Yep, that was mine. 200 bucks at American Music.
