Jim Tyrrell:

I hadn't heard any of his stuff before SFL, then being in a situation where you're just listening to music and not listening for things to review about or thinking about school or family or friends really lets you appreciate a good musician. "Dizzy Spells" is my favourite, just because the music is so wonderfully cheesey and loungey, but then the lyrics are very clever. Huzzah for Jim Tyrrell.

i just want to say that blue makes possibly the best fish tacos i have ever eaten. the hype is definitely well deserved and earned.

also, he is a consummate host and a great guy.

I've been keeping an eye on the site today, checking about every hour to see if the new songs were up. Before lunch, there was no change. After lunch, the new songs had been posted, and JOHNNY CASHPOINT HAD ALREADY REVIEWED THEM. Absolutely outstanding.

I was driving back from San Francisco this weekend, listening to the Independence Day Secret Hxaro on my ipod, and i was really impressed not only by the quality of everybody's covers but by the strength of the songwriting and how well it carried over to so many different styles and interpretations. Big props to the artists for doing a fine job on the covers but even bigger props to Johnny and Ken for writing some really terrific material.

Johnny Cashpoint and Ken, you guys are really kick ass songwriters.

Blue Lang's "Beautiful Lunchbox" is BACK ONLINE!

I liked Blue's album-a-day so much that I decided to make a "sister album" which remains unfinished at this point.

This album of mine catches me at my most cynical, really. It has good moments, and odd moments. Especially where I asked for suggestions from friends on what to write about with the "OMGWTFBBQ" title. One friend (I think it was Ken) said "Write about not being invited to a barbecue", the other (I think it was Blue) said "Write it about a Cannibal barbecue". So I did the logical thing, and combined the concepts... with odd results.

Anyone even interested in hearing a completed "Ugly-Ass Lunchbox" at this point?

Holy f'n s---!! I can't believe you did that whole thing yourself in a week. It sounds amazing. That is one of the most seriously "rocking the f out" songs on SongFight!, I believe.

I've been really liking Merisan. Not alot of songs yet, but they are all well done songs. I especially liked the Welcome to ___ song. Songfight needs more female singers.

I've been catching up on some of the songs I missed last year and I realized Bjam did quite a few good tunes. I hadn't heard either Raw Strength & Courage tune or the Cutie Pies' "Sign My Box". Pretty good stuff.

As part of Raw Strength and Courage I thank you Niv.

I join the praise and say how awesome Bjam is (biased though I most certainly am). I am immensely proud at the way Bjam's talents have progressed over the last 15 months. Her writing, singing and most importantly her playing are immensely improved and she is brave as brave can be when it comes to performing live (thank you Boston and goodnight!). I also love the collaborations she has been involved in and thank the other SF'rs who have worked with her for continuing to encourage Bjam to expand the boundaries of her music.

For those who are not aware there is a list of 40 recorded tracks (mostly written by) on her website that you can explore including 2 genuine AAD's. Bjam's Discography
