I've tried (unsuccessfully) to do RPM a couple of times. I've got the writing bug right now but no real outlet so I went to google for motivational ideas and found songfight.org.

Works for me (I hope)

I heard about it through word-of-mouth in 2000. (around the time of "Standing in the Death Car") There was a bit of a songfight gap that year, and I figured the site came and went... until earlier this year when I saw some songfight music on a friend's computer and I checked it out again.

I'm another who knew about it back in 2000, and listened to a lot of Kompressor, Frontalot, Add, JB, etc. I used to try and make music in a mod tracker, but gave up on music completely for some years. Then, in the past year I started up again, with slightly better software. And I bought a guitar.

I don't know how I first heard about it... I've visited a few times over the last couple of years or so but never stuck around. Then BabylonHoruv asked me to contribute dialogue for the track he did for "Love Me a Little Bit More" a few weeks ago, and I hung around a bit, then decided I wanted to give it a try myself. :)

Song Fight is mentioned prominently in the documentary "Nerdcore Rising", and that's where I found out about it.

Word of mouth. Or, well, word of keyboard possibly. I heard about it around the time it started up, while in college; whether from a fellow music dork or a fellow computer nerd is now pretty much unknowable. Did memepool ever mention it? It's the sort of thing I would have seen on memepool.

Let's pretend I read about it on memepool.

Through FAWM.ORG users. Many also participated in songfight...but I just wasn't into violence at the time.

Interesting story actually... I like randomly Wikipedia-ing things, so I think this is how it went down:
Looked up Optimus Rhyme --> Clicked "nerdcore" --> Clicked "MC Frontalot" --> Clicked "SongFight!". That sounds about right.
When I'm not fighting with songs, I'm bringing world peace with my YouTube videos: http://youtube.com/JoraffProductions
