Jim of Seattle would like to dibs "Superstar" if it's still available.
Is there any reason you haven't bought my album yet? "We Are All Famous", on iTunes, CD Baby, and Green Monkey Records. Also available in unlimited edition "free" version:
Yes! I want to hear Jim's album without paying for it!

well... my song is mostly arrangement, which i whole-heartedly scrapped and dumbed down into a country song. i think "calling occupants of interplanetary craft" lends itself well to the country genre, and becomes less a song about two civilizations meeting for the first time, and more about anal probing. whee!

I'm in. I'm not sure with what, yet. Maybe I'll be Richard to Denni's Karen. Goodbye to Love is one my my favorite songs ever.

Shit! I knew 'Happy' was difficult but I had NO IDEA how hard it was until I just tried to break it down. I can't simplify it because what I liked about it were all the twiddly bits. Jesus God.

's okay... I figured most of it out. Crazy, crazy timing and lots of LA session musician licks. I did the middle and side trick to cut out the vocals and found a whole layer of little seventies synth parts too.

Yikes. Great song though.

Apparently Richard Carpenter excelled at disguising great songs in commercial production.

This is why I love the Carpenters so much. Great, complicated songs that sound so effortless you think they're easy schmaltz. (I was quick to choose one of the few basic ones, with that mind :) )

Ha ha, mine has taken a not entirely unexpected left turn into Baba O'Riley-era Who territory.

Aw, nuts. There's no way I'll be done in time. Spent the last two weeks prepping to move, then moving, then throwing a housewarming party, then heading home to New Orleans for a week.

Expect my entry about December 5th or thereabouts.

hey, we found Paco Del Stinko wandering around our virtual octogon, suffering from a mild case of tryptophan exposure and smelling like pumpkin pie. So of of course we brought him IN DA HOUSE!

Yeah mine was almost the end of me too. VERY liberal use of timestretching to finally get everything in time. Had to beatmap the whole friggin' song to figure out the timing of the pushes in the choruses.

I am DONE. D.O.N.E. done.

... well, except for the final mixdown ...

But anyway, I was sweating getting ANY tracks down on this. Studio time evaporated this month and I finally had to put my foot down and get pushy.

Heh.

This is going to rock. Final submission scheduled for Sunday / Monday.

i like to do a lot of reading when i want to do something correctly. while doing so i came across a bit of information. i thought I'd be intimidated, but really felt just more sad than anything. perhaps this will flesh out my vocal even more.

Apparently, Buddy Rich called Karen Carpenter one of his favorite drummers. This is just an amazing thing to me. I watched a video of her doing it and it's true. She's fluid, and confident, and beautiful. Nothing at all wasted.

She also said "We want to be remembered for our contribution to music. That's the main thing in our lives: to present what comes from within us through our music. We want to be remembered as good musicians and nice people."

That made me cry a little bit.
