I know if you follow me or we are friendsy anywhere I am posting this like a crazy person already but I'm so excited about this I can't contain my joy and I'm FREAKING OUT and everyone in my house who is already annoyed by my constant discussion of what I'm doing with this or that songwritingNUREIN!!! or who has done this or that with their song online or who got that piece of sweet gear will now hear me talking about THIS:
http://www.pianoteq.com/home
it is pianoteq four and it is AMAZING and I am upgrading everything and I shall be the queen of all things!!!!! (not really but wwwwwowwwwwww I will feel as though I am...)
I am going to have to start a Practice Schedule with my Real Live Piano who I love downstairs so that he does not get jealous.

Is there anything in your arsenal of music-y toys and tools that makes you behave like a small child?

I have one of these on semi-permanent loan from one of my older brothers, it's a lot of fun:

It's probably the only "cool" piece of gear I have (meaning, something that hip cool kids would think was cool).

My wife's out of town for ten days, so I'm forced to make a choice between actually making an effort to be social or just sitting around the house and being a sad recluse. So far, I appear to be leaning towards the former, which is probably much better for my overall well-being.

QOTD: My Korg Monotron is neat and fun to play with, but it has seen extremely limited use as a real music-making tool. Other than that, my setup is pretty straightforward.

Sad? That's a time of rejoice for me. If I had a whole 10 days to not see another human being and just do things I want to do, ie: recording music and writing songs, watching pronz while eating prawns and bnon bons, makin' flan and wontons 'til dawn. I'd be in BLT hebinz. :P

...and probably make a terrible rap song while tokin' a bong and watchin' Sean, of the dead layin' in bed until my brain is fed to zombies wearin' Abercrombie and Fitch stitches breakin' all my dishes, climbing out my kitchi'n window to let the neighbors know we need shotguns and machetes at the ready to survive this attack of the deady.

.....deady? really? 8-)

I just googled that.

Ooohhhh. Nice

$399 for the mini one. (that is $AUD - which is about 12 trillion USD now I think)

OR $399 + postage in USD if i buy from the US.

tempting

Behave like a small child? You mean more than normal? ;) Strangely enough, it's the Tannoy 501 monitors I just brought online in the studio bedroom. Affordable honest audio! It's like there's no color in 'em, the sound is so pure. Mixing the band's last demo through (someone else's) M-Audio monitors and then listening to it on the Tannoys, well, only y'all will know how much I cringed, heh. In front of a local producer, even. Oy!

Seriously though, it's like my entire music library is new to me again. The home stereo (Yamaha/Bose) was the old standard, but even with the knobs @ neutral, it was still colored. It's like the first time you heard music through headphones and that moment of "Oh... wow..." hit you. INVEST IN GOOD MONITORS!

But, that said, find a local indie audio place, bring a cd of music you *know* inside and out, and A-B their whole stock. *Hearing* everything crystal clear is... a whole 'nother world.

Though I suspect it'll just tell me how actually bad I am at all this

Behaving like a small child is when you are meant to be having Downstairs Family Time and you can't even sit through half an hour and your husband looks at you and rolls his eyes and says: "just go..." because you are not paying attention to the conversation or the television show because (if you're me) you're thinking "PIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOSPIANOS"
and you are incapable of adult conversation.
I was on the couch and yelled "fluffy got the magic frisbee drum!" They don't even register me anymore.

I am so tempted to yell this out the window at 1:36 am.

There's a combination of things that make me behave like a small child...

"fluffy got the magic frisbee drum!" .....I'd be willing to write this song. :P

Or even better, fluffy, band name specifically for your Korg drum project. "fluffy and the magic frisbee drum!" The name alone would sell records, lol.
