JB HQ relocating to DC

Post by jb »

The "Bloomingdale" neighborhood to be a little more specific. We'll be there by December. Good city for an SF Live, I'd say.

For those of you who care, here is a map that shows you my new neighborhood: http://goo.gl/2u7GGO

The neighborhood itself is demarcated by a dotted line, which is a pretty cool feature that I didn't know Google Maps could do. The dotted line does not actually appear on the streets, to my knowledge.

Congrats JB.

I'm all up for a DC SF!L.

P.S. Try out Lincoln Restaurant (1110 Vermont Ave NW). Great American style Tapas.

Great American style Tapas?
Is that like normal tapas - but 3 times bigger and covered in cheese and/or bacon?

Considering that tapas means to cover and has no specific ingredients other than what you're in the mood for or have leftovers laying around, sure, why not.

I'm a big fan of appetizers. They are great for socializing and keep people talking and having a good time, especially while consuming fermented and/or distilled libations. I personally would rather have numerous small plates of appetizers over a big dinner. I have three different ones I make regularly because out of all of the appetizers I've made through the years, my regular surroundings seem to like certain ingredients and not so much others. It's easy to see when all of the bacon and cheese munchies are gone and all but one half eaten calamari ceviche with with Limburger cheese on a ritz is still there the next morning, lol. EW!

1. Stuffed jalapeno peppers. Slice pickled jalies in half, scoop out the seeds, fill with a mixture of cream cheese, crab or tuna, and chopped green onion.
2. Sliced french baguette, grilled, topped with goat cheese, chopped dried cranberries, prosciutto and sliced green olives, drizzled with evoo.
3. Potato sliced in planks, brushed with garlic butter and grilled until done, topped with cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon and salsa fresca.

I can make a butt load of the above three and all of them will get eaten.

Removing the seeds? Wimp!

JB, excellent, it will be good to have something local for once! it would probably be ~30-45 minutes for me to get there from my place. I could probably attend an SFL there.

Good luck with the move, JB. Almost out of the South.

Regarding seeds: Take them out, leave the membrane in.

I got enough Qantas frequent flier points for a return trip to LA. Not quite enough for DC yet, but by next year I probably will

I'd love to go to DC, but must concede that the left-hand side of your country would be far more convenient for me timewise.
