Re: Novembeat
This turned out to be a really long jam, 6 minutes. I like the ending too so try to listen through to the end. I guess it's not so bad if you kind of zone out in it like I was doing. I think I kept it changing enough to keep it interesting. This one's all live again, just some light EQ and compression in the DAW, but that's all. It's getting to be really fun to do this live like this! I think about writing a song on a guitar now and then sequencing drums and overdubbing other instruments and blah blah blah. What a hassle!

Re: Novembeat
Was that really 6 minutes long? The time flew and it kept me interested the whole time. Great job!

Re: Novembeat
Oh cool, thanks! Glad it was enjoyable.
Great work, vom, way to go!
This has been very fun indeed. We changed plans and are not traveling this weekend so I think I've got a couple more jams left in me. We'll see. I'm thinking about putting this month's stuff out as an album too.

Re: Novembeat
Yeah I usually release the collection as an album and it's at least a great way to experiment with a bunch of stuff that I wouldn't normally experiment with, which is something you've already found for yourself too. That's why I keep doing this.

Re: Novembeat
Yeah, good times, except, it's making me want to have more synths to play with and a mixer and more pedals, haha.

Re: Novembeat
I guess maybe I'll shoot for 20 jams. That seems doable and like a nice round number.
Bass parts on an SH-101 just sound so tasty. I guess this is like a deep house jam or something? Possibly the most interesting bit of this one is that I shift the beat by turning off the volca beats, and turning it back on a half step off from before. That was fun.

Re: Novembeat
This time I started by stealing an idea I heard in a song where the "parts" are differentiated by the hi-hat switching between 1/8th notes and 1/16th notes, which I realized I could simulate by setting the closed hi-hat to the 1st and 3rd 1/16th note of every beat, and the open hi-hat set to be very short and on the 2nd and 4th 1/16th note of every beat, and muting and unmuting the open hi-hat. I always tried switching between pad and lead on the volca keys. To be honest, I'm not loving the volca keys. And the limitation of only being able to sequence 1/8th note rhythms on the SH-101 is a bummer. Now I'm dreaming of getting a volca nubass and a Minilogue...

Probably jumping the gun a bit but I've posted this year's prompt list. Let it cogitate in your brain for the next couple months.

Re: Novembeat
I was randomly just thinking about Novembeat today. Exciting! I think I'll be ready to do more analog synth stuff then.

Hm I can't figure out how to embed just track 2. Well that's annoying.

I had every intention of doing so but there's just no creativity in me at all at the moment.

I wanted to but I'm too busy. I'm moving, our cat's been sick, my job's been crazy, the election happened, and various other things.

Day 9: https://sockpuppet.bandcamp.com/track/distant
also I'm in an airbnb. this is my entire recording studio until Friday:
(I also have a guitar here, but I forgot I needed an adapter to plug it into the Zoom's interface port. Fortunately the mic on this thing is quite nice.)

Re: Novembeat
That looks like my entire recording studio all the time, haha
How’s the Airbnb? I briefly considered and eventually rejected the idea of doing Novembeat or NaNoWriMo, it’s been a stressful month already.
