Cool cover! I've got it on my list to do a big update to the page for this. I'll include your cover in that.

Re: Covering random songs from the archive
The Jukebox has been down and I haven't had any time to work on getting it working again so unfortunately the random song picker is out of commission for the time being. That's my to-do list also. I'll let folks know when it's back in business.

OK, I've updated this page with the Third Cat and Hanky Code covers. Did I miss anything or anybody else?

I don't think I ever responded to this. That's fine with me.Pigfarmer Jr wrote: ↑Mon Jul 19, 2021 6:54 pmCan we get a half a point or something for covering a random song by a particular artist? Great Paco Del Stinko cover Third Cat. Such a challenging project too - I listened to the cover, then went back and listened to the original (at http://www.songfight.org/music/art_bomb ... nko_ab.mp3 since the jukebox isn’t responding), then listened to the cover again. Then I realized I was probably missing out by not having my good headphones on, so I listened to it yet again on the good headphones and sure enough it was a different (better) experience. Anyway I love what you did with Paco’s excellent song, I’ve downloaded it and it’s getting plenty of rotation.

Re: Covering random songs from the archive
Thank you for updating the leaderboard, but I have a few corrections for it - obviously not important or urgent, but if Paco Del Stinko follows through on his threat to do more random songs from the archive then these few extra points may get in the way of him overtaking Hanky Code (for a couple of days anyway):
Hanky Code should get the half point Chumpy bonus for both the Frannie cover and the Under the Horse cover.
Hanky Code covered Look At The Sky by Backwards Binoculars, which also qualified for the SoundCloud and Pigfarmer Jr bonuses.
And in the interest of complete accuracy, Hanky Code's cover of Empty Wednesday did not qualify for the Pigfarmer Jr bonus so that should be subtracted.

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you about this. Here's the song, it's "Polaris" by The Disability:noma wrote: ↑Fri Jun 18, 2021 5:39 amThis thread has been silent for quite some time. Time to revive it, I say! I would really feel honored if someone covered a song of mine, but chances are unlikely. I really need to do more SF entries, been coming out of my hibernation only for Nur Ein, mostly, in the last few years. Please assign me a song.

It's okay, I've been assigned exactly 1 and continued to fail to deliver. Maybe I'll go on a binge of these at some point. Or maybe not. I dunno. I'm still happy that a weird song I wrote in high school got covered.

Sweet, here's what came up for you, Paco: "And Counting" by Lord of Oats.
http://www.songfight.org/artistpage.php ... 0of%20Oats
(I can't link directly to the song on the official archive unfortunately, you'll have to scroll down the list to it).
Hm, this seems to be a song about Song Fight. Possibly about Melvin??? Wait, did he have a song on a Tom Green movie soundtrack?! Wtf?! I'm learning a lot from this song.
It does seem to have been about Melvin:

Ha! Got it, thanks. LoO, my man. I do seem to recall something about a Tom Green movie, maybe unreleased or something? This'll be fun, it's certainly in my, uh, zone.

Re: Covering random songs from the archive
To be perfectly clear, someone (me) is beating you in the quantity of points department but not in the quantity of songs department. I deviously gamed the bonus system to overtake your 8-song point total with just 5 songs. And I'm still at the top of the leaderboard after your really cool Lord of Oats cover.Paco Del Stinko wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 8:57 amWait a minute here, hold on. And I hate to lessen my lead, but: whenever you get around to updating the leaderboard, please remove my "Quick 0.5" bonus for Look At The Sky. That was a PFJr bonus song (a stiffed song) that had been assigned to someone else 5 months prior.

Ah, right. I get it now. So I'm losing to a quantity of brains, too. Damn! I won't even bring up quality in that department!

Re: Covering random songs from the archive
Paco, would you please edit that SoundCloud track to enable downloads for it when you have a chance? Then I can add the song to the leaderboard. And here's your next random cover pick:
"Stone Palace" by Thornberry

I'm really curious to hear what you can do with this one if you want to tackle it!

Lunk - I enabled downloads, should be all set.
I am interested in that song, although the lyrics will be a sizable challenge. No punt! Thanks!
