SpinTunes 21 begins August 26

A new SpinTunes tournament begins August 26, and sign-ups are open until August 25.

SpinTunes is a four-round elimination tournament for songwriters. Each round, contestants receive a challenge, and they have nine days to write and record a brand-new song in response to it. The panel of judges rank and give feedback on every entry, and the highest-scoring entrants move on to the next round until we have a Champion!

If you are a songwriter looking for motivation, inspiration, a chance to get outside your comfort zone, the promise of feedback from thoughtful judges, and connection with a friendly musical community, this may be the place for you!

Y-Axis: Write and record a song about some kind of vertical position or movement, either literal or metaphorical: up, down, height, depth, rising, falling, tall things, short things, etc.

Okay, judges and challenger writers, clearly none of you are machinists, you've never worked with CAD software. Have you even 3D printed anything?

The Y-axis is to and fro, X-axis is left and right.
The Z-axis is up and down.

Are you guys stuck in a 2D world like the Simpsons?

Vertical articulation is along the Z-axis.

In case you missed it: In the official rules, there's a change...

*New in SpinTunes 21: the Round 1 judging period is extended by one week to allow the judges time to fairly evaluate the largest batch of songs in the tournament.

So there will 3 weeks between challenge rounds 1 and 2 prompts. (8/26 & 9/16)
