So it wasn't my 'turn" to do the offering song at church this morning, but the songleader had nothing and the keyboardist had nothing, and so I would up writing out a quick chord chart and I got to sing Merle Haggard's "Mama Tried" for the Mother's Day special music this morning!

I even had one person come up to me afterwards and comment, "I have that song on a Grateful Dead album somewhere at home..."

The choir folks had done an announcement at the start of the service about their plans to raise money to buy a baby grand piano for the church, told about when the piano was invented and all that stuff. So I started out by explaining, "In 1954, in Fullerton, California, a man named Leo Fender invented the Fender Stratocaster. And it was, indeed, grand! And shortly after that, the greatest song ever written about mothers came out, and it goes something like this...' It was ragged (we didn't actually get to rehearse it, and the guitarist and keyboard had never heard the song) but we got through okay!

My mom usually goes to a Sunday School class during the service we play in, but they cancelled the class today because so many people were going to be away for Mother's Day. So not only did I get to sing "Mama Tried," my mom got to hear it.

And a happy one to y'all...

Thank you! :)

I got to sleep in today! I slept until 12:30! Thank you Phil!

Today I'm taking Phil's mom and grandma to see the movie Waitress at the Uptown theater. That should be fun, I bought the tickets online and everything. My early prediction, we'll get there late. It's the Redmon way.

My parents, who live north of Seattle, are going to a Mariners game today.

Yesterday I went to Ikea and the hardware store and bought stuff. I had to get a new circuit breaker to replace the one that blew out a few days ago. Phil replaced it and it worked! I'm so proud of him!

I bought a new light fixture for the dining room and one for the hallway. Phil just put up the one in the dining room and it works... looks great too!

I also got 12 bamboo blinds for the front (enclosed) porch, 3 roman shades for the dining room and a set of red curtains for the living room.

We've lived in this house for almost 2 years without a lot of improvement, It's about time! :)

I just got back from Drumheller, where I went for mothers day. Very cool place ... wouldn't be able to stay there for more than 2 days, but it was very cool - I stood in the mouth of the world's biggest (fake) dinosaur!

Sitting in a hotel room, in Tofino.

got a conference tomorrow on "Injury Management in the Workplace". sssosooooooo..... funnnnn.

Nice drive...twisty, steep mountain roads. I saw a black bear on the side of the road. And a tourist getting to close trying to get a picture. The guy is trying to wave at me to slow down so he can get the perfect shot... what a weiner. Who is so arrogant they think they can get a random driver to slow down for the sake of their photo in the middle of a freakin highway.

Tell ya what, if he''d wrestle with the bear, I'd slow down and hold the camera for him...
