I’m a hard no because of the whole Australia thing.

Would love to be involved in a remote/prerecorded way if possible.
Same, except Ireland.

Ironically I keep thinking this thread is about doing a show in Ireland.

I'm always interested and always a little wary! (so I voted accordingly)

I think there is very likely to still be an online component of Song Fight Live even if there is also some in-person component. Everybody made such great stuff for the live streams the last couple years and they seemed to go over really well, and it's great to have a way for more folks to be involved and spectate. (We'd also try to live stream an in-person show if one were to happen but that's likely to be a "set it and forget it" type of thing somebody gets going at the beginning of the show and leaves on till the end, nothing fancy.)
So nobody asked me but.....

I think it would be cool to have a "hybrid" like show that does both, with one day set aside (Friday?) for "virtual live" and one day (Saturday?) for "actual" live. And have the "virtual" live day first, and "hosted" by the people going to the "actual" live fight. I remember the first day I got to Tampa for the "Hoblit hosted" SFL, we all hung out at a local bar and got to know each other and it was pretty relaxing and fun (plus we had a day to rehearse before the next day). Have a virtual party on YouTube hosted by the SFL "Host and Friends" and have the actual live fight (streamed on YouTube) the next day.

Just an observation from an old lurker who's gone to a few SFL events in the past. And is happy to see the tradition continue...

So, the mask mandate for air travel expired, and airlines immediately stopped requiring masks. I'm feeling a lot less excited about air travel. Anybody else feeling differently now?

I'm definitely less inclined to get on a plane, which for me means if it's a west coast affair, I remain interested, but still a little wary. And of course, odds are the west coast will be on fire, so who knows?

Edit to add, what if we did a couple regional SFL's that, to build on jack's idea, connected over livestreams? Maybe too much hassle and coordination, but also maybe worth considering.

No not really. I didn't like airplanes before, and while I am happy about the expiry (plz no political debates), I'm not keen on being stuck in a metal tube hurling through the air at several hundred miles per hour.

Honestly the expiration of in-flight mask mandates doesn't make a difference to me. Masks don't completely stop transmission, they just cut down on it, and being stuck in an airplane for multiple hours with someone who's sick is gonna get you infected, mask or not. For me it's all about case rates and transmissibility in general, and whether there's new vaccination-resistant variants circulating.

Mask mandates are great for things like grocery stores and (to a lesser extent) restaurants and short-haul mass transit. They're pretty much useless for airplanes.

Unless there is a huge outbreak we will still use the flying tin can as a mode of transportation. I guess the number of cases etc., here in our state and wherever the live fight ends up being held would be the deciding factors.

I'll go if I can drive there, but that limits me to a west coast event. I believe direct flights to Canada are still masked, just saying.

Airplanes circulate air (flush out old, bring in new) much faster than any other inside place you'll ever be. But masks are still a must, in my book.

Awesome, it sounds like there is probably enough general interest to make it worth trying to figure out how/where to host at least one IRL live night. As far as travel destinations, what do folks think of Bend, OR and Denver, CO? Our closest airport in Bend is the Redmond OR airport. It's pretty easy to get here from the western US. We're road-trip distance from Seattle and Portland and even Spokane and the SF Bay Area. Coming from the midwest or eastern US, though, or outside the US, you'd probably have to stop in Denver or Portland or Seattle on your way. Denver of course is a major air travel hub so, it ought to be easy to get there from anywhere in the country. Also, is anybody else interested in tossing their hat in the ring to volunteer to host?

So the drummer in the band I've been currently playing with regularly just played a gig at a nice, cool bar in downtown Redwood City (SF Bay Area) and her other band drew a good crowd on an otherwise dead Friday night last week, so the owner loves her. The bar has a downstairs with a pool table and other tables and a regular bar, while the upstairs is set up for live music. https://www.thehubrwc.com/

I could look into it if there's enough interest.

My daughter still lives around an hour from there so that would probably work out very well for us.

My piddly electric car definitely can't go that far but if anyone else wants to road trip from Seattle and is fine with me tagging along/paying for gas, I'd totally be into it. Or maybe there's a bus or train that works.

There is definitely a train option. We debated flying to Seattle and training down to the San Fran area on our last trip. But I don't have specific details.

My sister lived in Bend for years with an electric car. Such a yuppy town, I can't imagine it's out of range for a trip. I'll ask about alternatives.
