You're young, you'll learn dirty eventually, so don't fret. (Stuey: you should fret.) Anyway, good times, good times. Great work by the whole Scotland clan. I guess I'll have to murder Feldspar some other time. For clarification, I am not on the Uma-Thurman-is-manly side of the fence.

The only person on the Uma-looka-lika-man side was Asya.

this was soooooo awesome, i had a fantastic time. thanks to everyone for sharing their music and (let me repeat what everyone has said, b/c it's worth it) thanks to stueym and bjam for hosting!

let me thank everyone who helped out on my set: heuristics/bill (so awesome you kept the kids recording, and great job on the backup vox), tviyh/eric (i am officicially amazed by your bass chops), charcoal/ben (i am equally amazed at your drum chops; wow) and niveous/ernie (thanks for doing the back up vox; it was fabulous); oh, and thanks to evan/adjuster for lugging those drums in! it would not have been the same without them.

i am officially addicting to live performance now. ever since saturday i've had everyone's songs running through my head. it's a drug, man, i swear.

oh and re: the audio - definitely a world 'net speed record for posting. wow. now i get to relive it! woo-hoo!

man, the next time someone says "songfight concert" i am SO there.

... and i am SO making a sound check before getting up on stage first... :-)

HeuristicsInc wrote:feldspar - sounded really good. my favorite is "fight the sea" - i've always liked your version. also the lyrics in "insects" are cool.
Hey, thanks! I've got a recorded version of "I No Longer Control The Insects" here if you want to hear it. It's from my most recent AAD, Park Reverse Neutral.

Listened again to most everything last night. Many cool moments that I had already forgotten. (Mind's starting to go, I guess.)

Particularly strong highlights for me:

-Any lead singing by Bjam. What a voice on you. Of course I'd heard recordings, but live is so much --I dunno-- more. Excellent.

-Feldspar's set. Probably the material I was least familiar with; a situation I need to rectify.

-Niveous's version of Gangster's Paradise.

-Luke Henley's set. Possibly my new hero.

-FBF's Run Free. Love it every time I hear it. Especially cool to split the vox with Bjam -- apparently there's no end to the malleability of this song, hunh?

Well excuse me that I'm not a fatcat Republican that can jaunt off from my dang summer house in the Hamptons to Philadelphia at will! No, I'm kidding, I regret that I wasn't able to come and am glad you had a good show. In fact I think I'll download it now.

Well, that's excusable. Though my summer house is in the Rockaways, thank you very much.

Seriously though, if we are ever at the same Songfight Live event together, then rock out to Moscow Idaho we shall.

So anyways, I forgot to bring my actual camera, and the few pictures I took on my PDA came out, well, like you'd expect PDA camera pictures to look. And they're just the same pictures that other people took, only better.

Here's one unique image, though. It's a drummer's-eye-view of Mr. Heuristics, Inc., rockin' the laptop. Try to imagine that shiny white blur is actually a complicated Audio Mulch program, because that's really what I was seeing.

Image

Wait, no, that's my cat on the top shelf! How'd she get there? Umm, try this.

we have this exact same picture, but from the reverse angle (that is, a picture of you taking the picture). it's on asya's computer though, which is downstairs, and i'm hella lazy.
