Mine's sent - I don't have many good pictures of me, and pretty much none with instruments, so I guess we'll see if the one I sent is up to Niv's standards. :)

So who are all the losers that put in too much effort in a non knock-out round!?!?

Eric, JK, Suit, Nigel... High-five boys!!

Hold it back till when it counts.

BTW - none of you were in my bottom 5. Let's hope the so-called judges clean the wax out before next round.

Apart from the obvious technical/knowledge/ability issues which I'll always have ( :) ) one thing that I'm sure lets me down is my lack of a 'played' instrument, therefore (and it'll be very very basic) I will be playing (attempting to play) bass for the remainder of my time with the Nur Ein fold...
(one more song then :D ).

Awesome, Nige! Best advice I can give you is keep your bass lines simple and groove to the kick drum. A thing I'll do when I want to workout on bass is set a nice drum loop, EQ the kick drum good and solid, EQ down the highs and just groove along to the kick drum. Try and hit low notes in time with the kick. THEN after you get comfy, toss in high notes in between the kicks. It's a fun exercise and really builds your sense of rhythm. It's the method I use to teach people to play.

Gasp!

Well, I appear to have done better in the reviews from other participants than from the judges, since a few people put my song near the top of their lists. I didn't think I was best (there were more excellent songs than the goods, fairs and poors added up), but I never expected to be second from the bottom, I thought somewhere in the middle of the pack.

That being said, if I go down in Round One it won't be without a fight...I'm gonna give it my best!

What's encouraging is that the songs near the top of the judges' list are of varying styles, with different strengths. Exactly the way it should be, well done!

look back at old nur eins, there are a lot of people who just don't participate in the next round. especially the early ones. i bet anywhere from 3 to 5 people don't even send in a round 1 song.

Nice photos, everyone!

Two things:

1.) I believe Niveous mixed up his pictures of Ross Durand and Rabid Garfunkel. They two photos are identical, and I believe it's a photo of the latter, not the former.

2.) Is the name of the Round Zero winner "Nouveau Pavre" as I've seen typed on the board and as it appears on the website, or "Nouveau Pauvre," which is how it was labelled in the Round Zero listing, and which isn't misspelled?
