July's a busy month, and most of it is here in NH. But I'm sneaking over the border on Thursday, July 9 to play a show at Smokey Bones BBQ & Fire Grill in Tyngsboro, MA.

I'm the featured performer at Lago's singer/songwriter night tonight. I'll be doing a set of originals, and there'll be a podcast of the show up later this week. Woo!

I stopped by the Daily Planet Morning Show before work today, to play a few songs and talk about songwriting, birthdays, and what the Magna Carta smells like.

I'm playing a Dueling Pianos show in Burlington VT tonight with Ed McCarron. It's at the Ri Ra Irish Pub on Church St., and it starts at 9pm.

It's basically two guys on stage, taking turns playing songs on the piano. The set is largely request-driven, and as a result, I've found myself playing piano versions of songs by The Go-Gos, Motorhead, Johnny Cash, Corey Hart, Metallica, Squeeze, et cetera. Lots of Billy Joel and Elton John requests too, as you can imagine.

I will be there again tonight, and next Thursday, and the Wednesday after that, which is the day before Thanksgiving.

Tonight I'm playing a piano show at Giuseppe's in Meredith NH from 6 to 9pm. Then tomorrow morning I'm headed to NYC for Yanks'nBanks. Yay!

Oh, and whenever I play a venue that has wifi (and Giuseppe's does), you can catch the show online at www.thejimtour.com. :)

Well that was crazy. I just spent two weeks recording with Ken Stringfellow (of The Posies, REM, Big Star). The resulting album will be out by the end of the year. The track list reads like a Songfight/Sidefight sampler:

A Week Without Ears
Crossroads
Do It In Public
French Toast
Horizon
Ignorance Is Bliss
Made To Be Played
Pencil Me In
She Already Knows
We Sound Like Each Other
Zombie Son

A couple of those are SF-inspired songs that never got completed at the time. Ken brought so much to all of this material. It was an amazing thing to do.

oh wow. i forgot about that. even though it is sitting right there. i wonder how hard that thing is to decode. i've mostly forgotten what it says, although i remember some of the scheme so i could probably reconstruct it.

Any idea what time you'd go on Fri 4/8? My wife works that day and it probably takes me 20 mins to get there... so I'm not sure if I'd be able to make your set or not. Maybe you'll have a better idea of time closer to the date? :|

Is that Phil Wages brewery? I seem to recall him home brewing or something. And he was from MO, too.

Wait, there's other songfighters in Missouri?

West Plains on a Tuesday? Dang, that's a long drive for mid week. *goes to use google maps*

Well, good for him, that's pretty cool. Look him up, Piggy. Seems like he's a decent fella. And yeah, say hi Jim. Please.
