Calfborg wrote: Fear Factory did that song, too. It's on their album, Obsolete, along with the cover of "Cars". I found the mp3 of it and they stuck with the original pretty well (assuming Wiseblood's is the original?). FF's vocals sound a little less silly for the style, but I still like the original. I'm not really a huge fan of Fear Factory...I like some of their stuff, but some of it reminds me of Anthrax, which isn't necessarily a good thing. Their Terminator-themed work was kinda good.
yeah, fear factory covered it, and they didn't do a bad job. burton bell's vocals bring out the menace in the amazingly good lyrics a little more than jim thirwell's do, but whatever. the original is cooler. fear factory are less than exceptional in general.

Halber Mensch is a fabulous album. It amazes me that people said that then that album came out some people accused them of selling out, much like they did when the Pixies brought out 'Doolittle'. Of course time has proved how forward thinking both of them were ...

If you haven't seen the "Halber Mensch" video, it's worth seeing. Some of it is pretty bizarre, and also interesting to see how they played some of that stuff 'live'. I'm not sure how the song "Halber Mensch" could be considered "selling out" :)

I think it was the first album where they weren't electrifying cows and recording the resultant death-groans for percussion. Or some such :)

the dolls are great, but i prefer "missed me", "good day", "coin-operated boy", or maybe even "backstabber"...

weird to see people in other parts of the country into them. i guess they "made it".

Oh, and Marcus - what is your avatar a picture of?
It's good, yeah. Really was well-used in "Lost in Translation."

As Jute Gyte said it's from "Cremaster 3," part of the Cremaster Cycle, a series of five films by artist Matthew Barney. He grew up in Boise, Idaho, got a football scholarship to Harvard, decided he wanted to go into art, ended up having sex with Bjork and having a kid with her. They're still together, apparently.

The live Earth, Wind & Fire where they do In The Stone, September, and Serpentine Fire one after another... Probably the most fun I've ever had on stage was playing tenor with the R&B ensemble at Berklee when we did that chart. Hot damn that was a good concert.

There's also this CRAZY AWESOME version of Night In Tunisia by Chaka Khan... go find this track, it's called "And the melody still lingers on", 'cause she put words to it. There's an insane two-bar synth break that I had to try to play once, and totally fucked it up. At three different concerts. Seriously, if you've got kazaa or if you use a song-by-song download service like itunes store, go grab this track and blast it. If you don't like it, I swear I will not send you a dollar.
Let cake eat them.
