The Fallen Idol

I caught this old British film on a weekend TV matinee. Directed by Carol Reed and starring Ralph Richardson, it tells an adult story through the eyes of a young boy. In this way it reminded me a little of Jojo Rabbit, but it has a much subtler subversive humour, reminiscent of Hitchcock. HIghly recommended , if you get the chance.
