Well, so says a story reported on slashdot:

"Two programmer-musicians wrote every possible MIDI melody in existence to a hard drive, copyrighted the whole thing, and then released it all to the public in an attempt to stop musicians from getting sued."

people need to tell slashdot nerds that just because they're into free software doesn't mean they know everything about copyright

The idea is neat, but there's a whole lot of rhythmic permutations and multi-octave melodies that would be left out.

Yeah I also seem to recall someone doing something similar a few years ago. I bet it was even written up on Slashdot.

While it is strongly believed that e is disjunctive, I don’t believe it has yet been proven.
