And I heard some thunder yesterday while out walking, so hit record on my phone memo app and let it go for half an hour. Didn’t get any more thunder because apparently one thunder every two years is enough for Ireland, and the sound is mostly my pocket, but I did get some good “us getting rained on” sounds.
This weekend, my mom and stepdad are visiting me from across the country (haven’t seen them in quite a while!) so I had to finish my song up well before the deadline this time. Submitted. My song is about Ed Gein... will this be the Nur Ein with at least one serial killer song in each round?

Wasn't Buffalo Bill based on Ed Gein?

There are probably five people who will laugh at this question, and I'm one of them.

Well I'm off to a good start.
Made a hideous monstrosity that will almost certainly cost me a place in the next round!
But hey, check out my field recordings!

@JonPorobil I think you’re right re Buffalo Bill
@arby that list of sounds looks and sounds amazing, I can’t wait
Anyway I just remembered I had written a song about pareidolia a while back that was on my band’s most recent album:

I'm in a day early, despite driving 1600 miles this week and being in three different cities. My field recordings are of a hydraulics laboratory in Denver and of coyotes in Albuquerque.

Fairly sure you didn't make the cut and there is NO WAY you're getting reinstated but we shall see, I guess ...

I appreciate your ignorance of the rules; unless your interpretation somehow oversees them RULEZ. Maybe I'm overlooking something; but shadow reinstatements is something which is a bit presumptive at this point.

I would love to not be ignorant of the rules, which would presumably require the judging panel to clarify whether reinstatements are or are not going to occur. In either case, I don't see why I wouldn't be free to submit a shadow entry.

Tommy G mentioned them on the stream Monday night but in the chat Niv pointed out it hadn't be decided yet. I could easily see how a participant wouldn't know that the rules had changed since the last Nur Ein... if they have. Technically we are all ignorant of the rules as the decision on reinstatement hasn't been announced, has it?

You could've just said "awesome, looking forward to it, but in case you're looking to get reinstated, we're not sure if we're doing that this year or not" instead of being an ass towards someone for making a song.

Regardless of reinstatement, I welcome LT’s shadows and any other eliminated NE contestant, for my own personal listening if nothing else

LT, you are always free to submit shadow entries. I think J$ was attempting to make a joke and it's gone horribly awry. I, for one, always appreciate shadows. Nur Ein is not just a competition but a challenge for one's own creativity. The competition is the driver. If you want to keep going without that impetus, more power to you.
