Judging by the early returns in the lyrics thread, anyways.

Yes, I agree the guitar solo sucks, however we did pull out a secret weapon on Vox. Enjoy!

I gotta say Rone, you're definitely improving on matters of beat, tune, and even song structure. Keep getting better dude.

You gotta be kidding me?! Does anybody take RR seriously? It's gotta be a joke, man. I mean, that can't be a 'real' attempt at music... it's gotta be a parody or some kind of slap in the face of Songfight. And you're buying it? Come on, unless this is an attempt at creating a new genre (losercore?), it's so blatently over-the-top that it wouldn't even make it in a bad comedy about bad music. No, this guy is either doing some kinda college sociology experiment, or just messing with us. Listen to "All Tan" and tell me I'm wrong. Trace the 'evolution' of his submissions. They're getting worse.
There's another possibility: he submits the worst song because he craves the attention he gets in these posts. Can't hit the one extreme (winner), so he goes for the other. There's been other people here who do that; they get off on any reaction. The stronger the better. It's not real weird -- it's human nature. He might not even realize he's doing it. But to validate this kind of 'art' is pretty insane. And if he's for real, then it's just mean. But I really don't think that's the case. And if I'm wrong, then... I'm wrong! And an asshole. Just listen, and decide for yourselves -- what do you think?

Thanks Jolly Roger, it can only go downhill from here? :D

As for the guy with only 12 total posts telling me I'm gotten worse over time, well if you have 12 posts you probably weren't here when I first started. So I have no comment.

The Seamus Collective's song totally rules. I will probably vote for them. We need to get them to go head-to-head in a deathmatch against Gert in "Clash of the SongFight! Super-Group Titans!" Maybe The Elite Inner Echelon Blood Circle should be in there, too.

Anyway, I also enjoyed the following songs to anywhere from barely to a lot: Bonfire of the Manatees (awesome band name, too), Booty Chesterfield Trio, Damien Verrett, Jolly Roger, Melvin, Milk Machine, MMMC, Paco del Stinko, Ross Durand, The Semolina Pilchards, and Worm Sweater (your debut, right? sounds promising). The other ones weren't really to my tastes, sorry. I'm going to try to find the time to write full reviews some day.

I just did.

His first song (brimming with tears)
His most recent song (ignorance is bliss)

You'll realize that the first song is just words spoken over drum loops with the occasional music clip. You might also realize that in his most recent song his words go along with the beat of the song. He also has a defined chorus and there is definitely a tune in there. Which song is better, I ask?

EDIT: Thanks Lunkhead for not having me at the very bottom of your list! It makes me feel a bit better about the song.

First, I hope this doesn't take up much more of this thread, but I must say about Rone Rivendale: I always try to take each song on its own terms. For me, his "All Tan" succeeded in its own context. It's like when you stop to let a small child tell you a joke. You consider the realm in which the joke dwells, not just that the kid would be eaten alive at the Apollo. What, do you want every song in the world to be Lennon/McCartney? We got folks taking care of that. Somebody has to walk on the fringes so we know where they are. That's my angle on the subject. Okay, Rone, now you're on your own.

2. Thanks, Lunkhead.

Excuse me. I'll be back later.

rone is not a kid. people who are crap at music shouldn't be on a music makin site and we shouldn't make special allowances for him because he is crap. I'm not going to try out for a porno and say 'What, do you want every penis in the world to be Ron Jeremy?'.

Not to be an excuse-making loser or anything, but I would just like to state that we saw the title at 11:30 pm Sat. and wrote and recorded it until 2:30, collapsed, slept, and then threw in drums and bass on sunday to turn it in before the deadline on monday, so we apologize for the crappily mixed and mediocre throw-together. We give it a six out of ten ourselves, but I still think it's pretty good for a first SF entry. By the way, how do we request a name change? It's wormsweater. No caps, spaces or underscores, man... none.

I see now that the way I wrote some of my last post was a bit vague. I listed those songs in alphabetical order, not in "most liked" to "least liked" order, but you're still not at the bottom, Jolly Roger, so don't worry. :)

Sick and Wrong: You may be sick, but when it comes to Rone, you are definetally right. Man. I'm sorry but his songs are laughably bad. I feel pretty bad saying that, but I have to be honest. I really only listen to Rone for laughs. There, I said it. No turning back. I'm sorry if everyone hates me for this.
