Your favorite band of all time.

Just name the first one that came to mind when you read the title. Even if it's not true (but then deliberate and pick the real one). Seriously, pare it all down and name the champion of your entire musical existence. I'll start with my favorite band of all time:

Fucking. Sabbath.

Pixies came to mind first, but it's the Beatles.

XTC came to mind first, and upon further consideration, it's in a three-way tie at worst.

The Beatles, but like others I get tangled in conflict upon further consideration.

Best live band (remember, from my experience, it doesn't mean I wouldn't change this if I were to or had seen other bands): Yes ('75 Relayer tour) but this may be because that was the first big concert I saw.

First band that pops to mind... Metallica.

There. I said it. Deal with it. I was 14 when I first heard Master of Puppets... it wasn't "old' and "classic" then, and they hadn't gotten all egoed out and goofy yet.

At least Load was appropriately named.

AC/DC Bon Scott era ONLY. Not that constipated, hack of a singer they have now ("Hey mates! I got a new title of a song, it's sexual innuendo!"). How the mighty hath fallen.
Bon Scott was punk before there was a word for it.

My first thought upon seeing the thread title was Pink Floyd.
Tho I might also say Brian Eno or Jazz Butcher for the 3-way tie.

Well, you know where I am with Mr Eno, but I don't consider him a band. I interpreted this as a group of folks who "formally collaborate and make music together"...sort of like a band.

I always go back to Zeppelin. Plant doesn't know what singing means and jimmy page is a sloppy gtr player. But gawd help me I can't shake it - it's a kinda love really.
