Yeah, I started typing up a reply and killed it, but now I will go ahead.
There are already a few band-specific coverfights going on. If you want to play a Radiohead song, that's fine. Great. Radiohead has many good songs. Share it with us if you'd like. You had five posts this morning, and your sixth was a plea sounding like a petulant child. I have, literally, 171 times more posts than you, and there are at least a half-dozen people here with more posts than me. There's a word I know: HUMILITY. Learn it and love it.
I personally have knowledge that Radiohead is well-liked in this community. In fact they're well-liked and respected by many who know music. But there are people here who wait patiently for opportunities to arise, there are people who are respectful of what's going on already and try to avoid flooding the gates with this or that sidefight, and there are people who have been around a while and become respected based on their musical ability or their sense of community. Clearly you are not one of these cases. that's my opinion.

Marcus is in a bad mood today.
I would say the lack of replies should probably serve as a gauge of interest in this idea. 36 people viewed the thread and not one of them said "cool idea!" or something similar. I almost replied with simply "Why?" but decided to just keep quiet. My guess is other people did the same.

I think it's a good idea but we are still knee deep in the Velvet Underground Coverfight. So why don't you keep this idea on the backburner?

wow, somebody takes this way too seriously. you could have told me that people don't like the side projects to get flooded instead of calling me a child. somebody woke up on the wrong side of his boyfriends bed today.mkilly wrote:Yeah, I started typing up a reply and killed it, but now I will go ahead.

As long as we're on the subject of "community" you might wanna watch that, too.mc_wino wrote:somebody woke up on the wrong side of his boyfriends bed today.
At least until we know ya better!
("That" being both the homophobia and the missing apostrophe. Heh heh.)
Edit -- See? Luke beat me to bugging you about that!

You're right. I'll wait until I'm more familiar with everyone else. Sorry if I offended anyone.anti-m wrote:As long as we're on the subject of "community" you might wanna watch that, too.mc_wino wrote:somebody woke up on the wrong side of his boyfriends bed today.

S'ok! We've all said incendiary things on the boards at some point or other. We're an offensive group!mc_wino wrote:You're right. I'll wait until I'm more familiar with everyone else. In any case, I think you'll get more love for your sidefight once there's a little less going on, sidefight-wise.
In the meantime, go ahead and do Pale Blue Eyes. I think more than one person can tackle the same song. Why not?
Oh, and Welcome to Songfight!

When you resurrect this sidefight, I wanna do "Creep", but I NEED someone to do the music to it. BLT? You could apply your SoCal sound to it. We could "duet" (see what I did there?) "Hunger Strike" style.
Oooooooo.... We need a SF collective "Hunger Strike" cover! One of us does the Vedder part, one the Cornell part, and we could get a chorus of fighters to do a portion. Waddya think?
