Damn, they all sound SO good, I'm going to have to listen a few times before I vote. I want to listen while I'm driving around tomorrow, because my truck system bumps hard and I can crank it.

To give credit where it is due: Starfinger provided the faux tuba on my track, and I used some extra percussion loops that he gave me some time ago.

Just finished listening to the stream, and downloaded all the tracks for transport to my player, and I'd just like to say this is a fabulously professional Coverfight, everybody has done tremendously well, with some inspired selections, initial favourites are, blt ft. fbf, heuristics inc. caravan ray (run run run) and jeff robertson... but these'll need and will get many listens before i cast a vote.

I really wouldn't recommend anyone voting (or even bothering to listen to) for my "Sister Ray" - it was only offered as a mere curiosity - not an actual entry.

I like your "sister ray" John. The quality is bad, as would be expected from a one mic live recording. But being a live musician myself, I can feel the meshing of the band and the good mood. You guys were obviously a pretty good band.

I think this is probably the best way to do a coverfight.

It should be noted, though, that the "poll" mechanism lets one look at the vote counts before the fight is over, even if one hasn't voted yet. That may or may not be a big deal to anybody...

I would vote, but I have never listened to Velvet Underground, so I really have no opinion in this.

Its not a 'who sounds most like the velvet underground' coverfight, its a 'which cover out of all the entries do you like the best' coverfight :D

Oh no, I didn't realise, now you think it will split the vote of the Caravan Ray fanbase and neither entry will do well..........na, i'm only joking, I think we have all recorded ourselves in this fashion and understand the limitations of the medium and equipment so can discern the musicianship despite the lo-fi quality, in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter one way or the other tho ;) It is now part of the Velvet Underground legacy :D

Do you think someone will cheat? YIKES, warning to that someone....if you want to win that badly at a coverfight you need help, after you win you'll crash through weeks of depression knowing that you didn't win, that your life is a sham and any day now you'll be found out and you'll suffer more crushing humilliation than if you'd not cheated and came 3rd or 10th or something. Then the prison psychologist will help you understand that a coverfight is a learning experience, in all senses :D

Yah, me too -- re: "I'll be your mirror" That's actually an old cover, so should be d/qed. Plus, it's a silly practice tape.

I'd originally planned to do something new... but life intervened. Stupid life!

See, here again. I really enjoyed your entry. Most of our rehearsal recordings, which also are better than most of our studio recording, in "my" opinion, sound like we were recording in a bathroom. But they are so damn real and full of truth. It is really hard to recapture that exact recording. So bottom line, to most musicians, your cut, it's like home.

Just want to pipe in and say good work everyone. I like the old tape recordings very much as well. Now, these aren't all VU covers, right? There's some 'just Lou', too? I would've been glad to wreak something off of New Sensations. Good fight though - thanks!

Yes, it would be nice if someone could do a quick rundown of which tracks are Lou solo and which are VU. I could do the research, but surely someone knows for certain. Besides, some of my MP3s are mislabeled because I don't know which songs are Lou and VU and it's messing up my analness!

According to my music collection, the tune I did came off "The Best of Velvet Underground" (though I'm sure it was on an earlier album!).

I've officially now done better thn any previous sidefight I've entered before, thank you to...?
honestly that vote has really made me chuffed!

Anyhoo, I'll be posting my takings on these fabulous tracks probably on Monday which is also when I'll have made up my mind who to vote for, but at the moment it does seem to keep changing.
