So long, Sarah

It was reported this morning that Sarah Palin would not run for re-election as governor of Alaska in 2010. Then, later in the afternoon, she confirmed that not only would she not be running for re-election, but she will actually resign as governor this month.

All this, evidently, so she can have the freedom to campaign for U.S. President... in 2012.

...Yikes.

It ain't "so long Sarah" yet. That nuisance has just begun to torment us. Hopefully, she'll end up in prison or something.

Yeah, that's if we're very lucky.

Some of the more annoying politicos are speculating that she did it to avoid a nasty impeachment trial due to all of the allegations that she's been misusing state funds. I don't necessarily think that's true; she lost some cred in the presidential election, but her favorables in her home state are still very high, meaning whoever presses forward with charges would have stood to lose quite a bit of political capital.

So now she's got three and a half years to campaign her way into our hearts. Good friggin' luck.

As a side note? Gosh, I wish I could just up and quit my day job for three years while I pursue my dream.

argh the woman drives me insane, she is so obviously the exact caricature of a greedy immoral politician that most people seem to just sit back and accept her lying backpeddling ways because she's just doing what politicians do.
She's been caught out so many times how is it even possible for her to even consider campaigning for President...

I first read that as "...been caught so many times now it is even possible..."

Which I guess sums it up pretty well.

Sarah Palin recently signed a contract with Fox News. She will be providing commentary... or something.

Just when you thought stupid couldn't get stupider.

You know what? I don't really mind seeing her as a Fox Commentator. In this job, she only talks to people who already agree with her, doesn't have to campaign for votes, and isn't responsible for writing or vetoing any laws or other such legislative policy. Good for her.

Agree with her? How can you agree with someone that doesn't hold opinions, but merely spouts off vacuous, contradictory one-liners? :)

Her contract was built in such a way that she's allowed to go off and do other things. AKA, she's going to use her popularity and influence to springboard into a new political career.

I can only hope that Fox gets that much more cartoony that people stop taking it seriously. And that she is seen as the entertainment she is and not a political leader. And I also want a flying pony.

PS this terrifies me: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mKKKgua7wQk

I wasn't aware that things can be more cartoony than Fox.

BAHAHAHAHA!!!!

"She stands for what America is."
"And what do you mean by that . . . if you could clarify further?"
". . . Freedom. Our liberties. The right to speak."

"What are some issues of hers that you agree with?"
"Uh, I'm not sure where you're going with that . . . what issues?"

They all seem pretty good natured, but holy balls - if you're going to be that opinionated . . . gah. I'm speechless.

People wrote in votes for John Stewart for god's sake. Anything is possible. In the short term at least I won't see/hear much of her since Fox doesn't play where I am. I would hope that the extra exposure would only make people sick of her, but that's backfired in the past.

Mods: You can move this to Dirty Jokes if you want, but it works good here...

Q: What's the difference between Sarah Palin's mouth and her vagina?
A: Only some of the things that come out of her vagina are retarded. (highlight it)

She is not as hot as Australia's new Federal Opposition Leader.

The sight of Tony Abbott in a pair of budgie smugglers makes me go all giddy:

I'm not sure if it is really necessary for him to go to Parliament dressed like that though. He will at least need to buy a pair of shoes if he is going to be Prime Minister
