NEW primus album preview

Post by Manhattan Glutton »

:fuckyeah:

It comes out in a week.

I'm going to see them next month.
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

Does this mean you're no longer a Cake cover band :)

:P

I can't play bass OR guitar like Primus does.

The genius of that band is Herb. I think Herb is not on this album. It will be good, but not genius.

Can't wait. And I had a chuckle at the second and third post in this thread for numerous reasons. Not so much at the serious third post. But the forth post isn't much better because I refrained from agreeing in detail with post number 2 and veered away from mocking post numeral three. :P

Thank you for the Primus reminder. Looking very forward to this.

Trip Report!!!

The show was pretty good. They played a first set, then Popeye episodes at intermission, and then the full new album.

The first set comprised of obscure songs that only hardcore fans would like. Absolutely nothing from Antipop was played, only Frizzle Fry from its album, and only Mrs. Blaileen from Tales from the Punchbowl - leaving mostly Pork Soda, Seas of Cheese, and Brown album material. The only radio hit was "My Name Is Mud".

From the description of the material played, you can probably imagine what type of crowd they were catering to. Yes, there was a lot of moshing.

The second set (Green Naugahyde in its entirety) was more melodic, coherent, and enjoyable.

They ended on another Seas of Cheese song - American Life.

It was a good show, but I think I'll have to pass next time since I have no desire to mosh to Mr. Krinkle.
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.

honestly, that is the primus show i would want to see... ive had about enough of the hippie jam music they have been making for a while. pork soda is by far my favorite album by primus. if i got to see "southbound pachyderm" live i would be very happy. im glad, if anything, they are going back to the progressive-funk-metal where they began, instead of bass driven hippie rock where they progressed. i appreciate artistic change etc... sometimes it just sucks though.

They didn't play cool stuff like DMV or Southbound Pachyderm or any of that. :/

Some of the songs I remember: Here Come the Bastards, Seas of Cheese, Blue Collar Tweakers, Mr. Krinkle, Eclectic Electric (I think), My Name is Mud, Tommy the Cat, Eleven, Fisticuffs.

Which are fine songs, but there's a lot of a-melodic chanting and masturbatory jamming.
If I had a dollar for every one of my songs j$ has called a 90s pastiche, I'd have $1 for every song I've written.
