Jon Eric - "I Like It Both Ways"

(Some people like, some people like, some people like to drive me crazy)

You know I'd like to invite you, but it's not my call
You fit in like a banjo at a symphony hall
Some people watch television
Some people like plays

(chorus)
I like it both ways
I like it both ways
I like it both ways
Some people like to have it all

It took a while for you to finally climb out of the red
Must be allergic, 'cause I think you've got a swollen head
Some people do well with tough love
Some people need praise

(chorus)

Ooh, I never said I was the kind of guy who doesn't kind of cry when I think that I'm behind
Ooh, you didn't prove to be the kind of friend who doesn't end things every time I speak my mind

[bass solo, keyboard solo]

Some people need a vibrant night life
And some people need to see the sun

(chorus)

Some people like, some people like, some people like to have it all
(I like it both ways)
Some people like, some people like, some people like to drive me crazy
(I like it both ways)
[repeat until fade]

Sockpuppet - You're Never Around

where does the time all go
I' m sitting waiting 'round for you
it's the only life I know
I feel like there's nothing to do
these
are the themes

and then I get a friend
you tell me that she's here for me
that really does depend
on everything she does to me
these
are the themes
of my life

you feed and treat me well
at least whenever you're around
though I can never tell
how late you're gonna come around
these
are the themes
of my life

---

and now I'm old and grey
Decisions being made for me
I hope that I can stay
I hope that I can stay
These
are the themes
of my life

These
are the themes
of my life

Eggshells
Caravan Ray

I have been walking on eggshells
I have been walking on eggshells
I have been walking on eggshells
I have been walking on eggshells

Sometimes when you look at me
I feel like I am Captain Nemo
And you are a giant squid
about to swallow me

I have been walking on eggshells
I don't know what to do
I do not know what to do

It is like our bedroom is Afghanistan
And I am surrounded by Improvised Explosive Devices
Whatever I say
Whatever I do
Something could go KA-BOOM!

Eggshells

"spare parts"
by BLT

breakdown, everything's coming undone
Trying to remember what you did and where you went wrong
pull off my glasses and rub my eyes, collecting my thoughts and squint at the sky
breakdown, everything's has unwound

Then I realize, in disguise, I'm the broken one
Spare parts, careless heart, I'm the broken one

Remember when we met, everything was so fine
A blanket on the beach, crackers and cheese and cheap red wine
We'd talk for hours about the silliest things, never gave a damn what tomorrow brings
Remember when we met, everyday was so blind

Then I realize, in disguise, I'm the broken one
Spare parts, careless heart, I'm the broken one

Blistering thoughts so vivid they bleed
pulsing ideas into puddles that breed
molecular particles shape and form
It all comes to life in a swarm

pull off my glasses and rub my eyes, collecting my thoughts and squint at the sky
breakdown, everything's has unwound

Then I realize, in disguise, I'm the broken one
Spare parts, careless heart, I'm the broken one
Then I realize, in disguise, I'm the broken one
Spare parts, careless heart, I'm the broken one

In My Hand
by Naked Philosophy
(Title suggested by fluffy)

Roll the dice, let's get moving
I want to see what you've got planned
Build a road and burn your bridges
Before you know what's in my hand

Make jokes at my expense
But what's in my hand may win the game
In my hand
In my hand
Things may never be the same as you guessed

Take the path of least resistance
Until you count to ten
Make a trade with the enemy
And see how it comes out in the end

Make jokes at my expense
But what's in my hand may win the game
In my hand
In my hand
Things may never be the same as you guessed

Why do you take it all so seriously?
After all, it's only a game.

Make jokes at my expense
But what's in my hand may win the game
In my hand
In my hand
Things may never be the same as you guessed

Vacuum

in the darkest corner of every dog's heart
lurks a fear
a terror so pure it will void all reason.

from the twisted imaginings of man's cruel mind
comes an creation
a machine so evil it will suck your soul

verse
------
behold the dogs of war
fighters to the core
heads held high and proud
blood shed with no remorse

the age of legend dies
machines have come to rise
electric motors scream
an omen to the skies

------
chorus
------
the Master brings
machines that sing
a song that eats you whole
evil reigns
the vacuum hates
it wants to suck your soul

------
when the master calls
you will feel small
the time is final now
we must take the fall

hounds of hell are near
can't you smell the fear
afraid to feel the SUCK
now everything is clear

------

Professional Grade
by Heuristics Inc.
title supplied by Mike Lamb

when we bought our house
there were a few things that said ‘needs work’
so i thought i’d try my hand at some DIY
i started with the closet
‘cause you know, nobody’s going to see it if you mess up in there
i painted, repaired the drywall, i even put up some shelves
thought ‘this is not really so hard... this looks great!’ and looked for the next job
i’m going to remodel the kitchen
it’s gonna be... beautiful

gonna be - professional -
gonna be - professional grade

i’m going to hang cabinets
i’m gonna put in new plumbing
everybody loves granite countertops, right?
and those drawers that close real softly
all new appliances - all the works!
oh and i should put in a new tile floor
i can do this!

gonna be - professional -
gonna be - professional grade

well, i started with the cabinets
and that seemed to go pretty well
except, uh, they weren’t very level
but, you know, i can fix that later
and then the plumbing, it was kind of drippy
and it was leaking water inside the cabinets
and making it all gunky inside
but, um, you know
and then i realized i didn’t do the floors
so i had to put them in around the cabinets
and then i dropped a granite countertop
right on my foot
i think it’s broken
and it broke a bunch of tiles
and then
the cabinets fell off the wall
...i think i better hire a professional

gonna be - professional -
gonna be - professional grade

Cast A Wider Net by Jan Krüger (based on a title by Jon Eric)

Ain't it weird
How everyone knows
How everything goes away
I'd scratch my beard
Don't know where to look
There might be a book some day

My shelf is full from the times
When I thought that the rhymes
If they're perfect, that's where I must go
Then one after one every halo expired
By now I feel tired and slow
How can I possibly grow

They say I'll cast a wider net
They speak of all the things I'll get
Worlds must collide before minds will unite
Presentation
You catch more flies with honey than with specialization
This common dimension just melting all tension away
They say I will find it some day

Step by step
The cliche ain't new
But what can you do in the now
I've stayed on the map
Maybe that's what was wrong
Always had to belong here somehow

There are so many things to keep in mind
If only there was a way to leave nothing behind
They say one little thought makes me see
And everything's different to me

Sometimes it's small
For want of a nail
The king finds the holy grail
And after all
Walk through just one door
The ceiling's not there anymore

They said I'll cast a wider net
I know I won't soon forget
Thoughts were too slow, what it's now I don't know
Aggregation
Trying was no substitute for experimentation
This deeper dimension just melting all tension away
I could do this every day
Because I'll cast a wider net
I know for sure that I won't forget
And thoughts may be slow, it's in what I don't know
Every hour
Who would have thought that living is a superpower
This subtle dimension just melting all tension away
[Until I'm old and grey]
