Re: Gear Acquisition Syndrome

Maybe I'm not glad I bumped into this chat, but yeah, I am. I do not need more stuff, but somehow that stuff still finds me. Yeah! That's it! I recently bought a pair of these, used, for a bit over the price of one. Yet to use, as I need a rack and place to put them, but I'll be learning these soon....

Re: Tell me about that honest politician (Mythical Creature reviews)

Sober and gal: Thanks for the comments! Just want to respond to clarify, not out of thin skinned defensiveness. Trust me, I can take me some slammin'. But I had to look up who Jonathan Davis is and there's no way that was me doing an impression. I like the heavy, but Korn and all that stuff is not m...

Re: Expert Opinion

Expert Opinion - Paco del Stinko I got a expert opinion And I'm testing the lynchpin I'll use flexing precision To be besting derision I knew a guy who knew everything I asked him to rhyme and he started to sing Open your eyes to see what it brings Too high to fly and too deep to swim I can testify...

Re: Modern democracy (was: COVID-19 freakout thread)

Awfulness of Covid aside, democracy here is indeed flailing. Besides Dear Leader, look at McConnell and the other (mostly) GOPers doing their best to dismantle the country from the inside out. And funny how Big Brother isn't the govt, but, rather, corporations. Amazon, Googel et al. There's so much ...

Re: Original Flava Coverfight - COVID-19 Special Edition

Im at work on break, so not much time. But have to thank JB for the great cover of Auld Lang Syne Interesting choice, but what an improvement. The bittersweetness of that classic melody done by an actual singer is delicious. That's a song, original original and this cover, that as it goes, you know ...

Re: Original Flava Coverfight - COVID-19 Special Edition

In! I shortened the song I chose from about 3:20 to just over two minutes. But by gum, it's jam packed. I hope my giftee enjoys it. Note: I left in an exclamatory statement at the beginning of the song after I did the drums in one take (such as they may be). It is not directed towards anyone in part...

Mythical Creature - Paco del Stinko You furrow, shoot an arrow You can't walk the straight and narrow You drew first, and then let the last What a blast You fill the air two hundred feet wide (Mythical creature are you real) To kill all fair an abundance of pride (Mythical creature are you real) Si...

Re: Not crooked anymore (Bent Straight prefight)

I had wanted to do a pirate-y song about the Straight of Bent, but just couldn't get it going. So instead, it's a (mostly) stream of consciousness thing. Or unconscious. You know how it goes.

Re: Bent Straight

Bent Straight - Paco del Stinko I got bent straight 'cos I used to be crooked Once I had a narrow mind but somebody took it I got enlightenment the sun on my face I was mean dirty and low until I found a higher place But Now I'm free (Now I'm free) Now I'm free (Free) But now I'm free (I'm free) Now...

Re: Original Flava Coverfight - COVID-19 Special Edition

I would like to participate. Thought of putting up only different names I've entered under, but can't remember them all. And good luck wading through the swamp that is my archive, it big. Couple of good ones though.

Re: Gift of Music - COVID-19 Special Edition!

As the very fortunate recipient of a hxaro and from covering random songs from the jukebox, and in previous sidefights, I can attest to the wonderful delight of hearing your songs interpreted by others and wrangling other fighters songs around. I love GOM, but Original Flava might be nice this round...

Re: Music from the stacks

Crumpart - I found those songs, MP3, and sent each separately via PM. Screwed up one of the PM headings. I don't have a hosting service at the moment, so I hope that works for you and if not, can send to an email if you'd like. I was surprised at how long ago I did them, but hey, time flying and all...

Re: Music from the stacks

I used to do "blind pick: with vinyl when I had hundreds of lps. Shut your eyes, jam your hand in a stack and play whatever came out. Fun, if occasionally groan inducing.

Re: Music from the stacks

Yeah, Morrisey is stinking it up. Too bad, loved the Smiths big time for many moon. Sold off most of my vinyl some years ago, but have a couple crates left. Good ideas, yos. Also, I did a (fairly decent if I may say so) GOM cover of Ungaurded Moment for Caravan Ray a few years back. It's around here...

Re: Gift of Music - COVID-19 Special Edition!

Hey Jack, thanks. i imagine you might've blasted that tune while cruising in a Trans Am with your high school buddies in your Manch-Vegas days. ;) Regarding second round, another idea might be like the sidefight that happened a dozen or so years ago where you requested who you wanted to do the cover...

Re: Gift of Music - COVID-19 Special Edition!

Hey UJN! Great job on The Joke, you made it your own with a strong influence on the lyrics. I only heard this song earlier this year, and thought it was a knockout. Well, you knocked it out too, man. Great job, I am genuinely pleased. Thank you. Vowl: There was no way I could pass up The Reaper. The...

Re: Gift of Music - COVID-19 Special Edition!

I'm in. My cat Yoyo made a perfectly timed vocal contribution about a minute eight into the song. Might be the best vocal on the track. Anyway, looking forward to all of the songs. Stay safe, peoples.
