Re: Music Room Storage and Organization

Getting my monitors off of the desk was a big space saver for me. I also put a sliding shelf under my workspace so my yamaha key board is always tucked away ready to pull out and abuse.

Music Gift Ideas ... Tis some season

I have an 18 yo family member who can make music noises on lots of different instruments, he played in school bands and can improvise pretty well on sax. He is looking into training in instrument repair . I'd like to convince him that engineering scratches the same itches. basically I'm looking for ...

Re: Telecasters of Song Fight!

Roymond’s and Lunkhead’s both have an f-hole. .... are they actually semi hollow body guitars? Or is it just a groove?

Re: Song Fight! Live(Stream) - September 2020

As a mostly listener/lurker, it’s interesting to see the faces behind the music. Even if it’s not live - I’d love to see a songfight month in review video magazine. Interviews, Fight wieners talking about their songs, mini production ted talks....

Re: Come join in (The Dregs Reviews)

Berkeley Social Scene : This sounds like a straight ahead rocker until the chorus vocals come in with a punk sensibility. I wasn't expecting that. The solo wandered away for a second but came back in the end. I like it. Brown Word and the Big Whine : There are some cool turns of phrase in here. I l...

Re: WTF Are The Modes?!

I made this in my effort to understand modes. I think it's correct. It is all the modes of the C Major scale. The first note of each scale is blue the second note in the scale is red, etc. It illustrates the interval differences of each mode, which I think is what gives them their individual feel (m...

Re: Dredging Up Some (From The Depths Reviews)

The Overambitious - The manufactured instrument sound is generally a turnoff for me, but this worked. I feel like the vocal harmonies in the chorus didn't mesh as well as they could have. Step Aside - Really started out with a 'Every Rose has a its thorn' vibe, so I was all set to listen to it in a ...

Re: Awesome Music (related) Videos

Everybody else in the world was probably already aware of Rob Scallon, but I just found him. His musical madlibs videos have convinced me that complaining about shitty title prompts is for weaklings. ( combined with finding out Rivers Cuomo's lyrics are piles of nonsense) https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Re: 28/9/16 Where are you?

Way back in the late '80s I spent some time helping a friend work on a piece of undeveloped property in Alaska. I spent a lot of time whining about the mosquitos and other assorted bugs that were eating me. Making the 2 hour drive to the grocery store was a big exciting day. btw the town with the gr...

Re: Music Podcasts

'No Guitar is Safe' is a really great podcast for guitar nerds. The host interviews players from his perspective as a working guitarist - and jams a little too. The first episode was Joe Satriani, one of the early episodes was Guthrie Govan -- he is great - really worth a listen. https://itunes.appl...

That just means you should use Nur Ein to start the BLT sensitive GuyNGuitar phase like Mark Walberg at the end of Rock Star. Or the BLT self indulgent Jazz phase like Sting or Brian Setzer

Music for Misanthropes?

I've been trying to come up with an albums worth of ( fairly easy to learn) songs that feel like these:

Radiohead - Creep
Doors - People are Strange
Fleetwood Mac - Oh Well

Any others ????

Re: 5/27/15 Jimi Hendrix

Voodoo Child (Slight Return) is amazing, and moving. I'm crazy about Little Wing too, but some time in the 90s I swear it got remixed for CDs or something and now has an annoying xylophone 'DING' throughout. ( I don't think its a harmonic) It kinda kills my enjoyment of it now a days. Was that there...

Re: 5/8/15 The Who

I think Behind Blue Eyes is the best epic rock song ever. Stairway to heaven is the shining archetype but BBE has all the elements and more timeless lyric. The acoustic intro with voc harmonies and the crashing (windmill)guitar in the chorus are great. lyrics like "if my fist clenches crack it ...

As a kid in the 70s my first experience with listening to an album over-and-over was a cassette that had Boy Named Sue on it. There's stuff on Exile on Main Street that I listen to over and over. Recently I (re)ran across Monkey Man from let it bleed. As the number of people interacting increases that structure starts to look like an organization or government. So there is really no such thing as Ana...
