Re: Rewrite the ABC Rewrite

Uh uh. No way. If they're going to marginalize my fake band name, I just might stop turning in songs for songfight. ;)

Re: let's buy me an expensive studio vocal mic!

What Ken said. I always used a couple different $100-200 condensers until a year and a half ago when, for the first time in a long time, I needed to provide my own mic for a gig. I bought a Sennheiser e838, then of course tried it for recording since you never know - and really liked it. All the Mil...

Re: What do you call this musical technique?

Hmm, Google seems to want to call it isomelos, at least in a 12-tone setting. Information is scant. I'm not sure I would have recognized the technique if you hadn't pointed it out. Or maybe I just wouldn't have thought that it might have a name.

Re: No Flava Original Twists Reviews (coverfight)

LMNOP covers Sockpuppet's "tw3rp" - [...] Have you heard the final version, from the foodsexsleep album? For reasons I can't pin down, I get the impression that you based this cover on the Songfight version of the recording. I got that impression too, and I'm not entirely sure why either....

Re: No Flava Original Twists Reviews (coverfight)

Well, Naked Guy, you’ve put me squarely in the “I wouldn’t have guessed…” camp. My “Am I Forgiven” is a barbershop quartet arrangement that moves from a languid 3/4 to a zippy 4/4 and back again with a vaguely verse-verse-verse-verse structure with no chorus. You reached through all that and found a...

Hey Charles, the original is wrong for Lonbobby covers Idiot Kings "Boarding Call". We're getting Lonbobby's original entry instead of Idiot Kings.

Re: After Hours of Careful Consideration (After Hours Reviews)

I know this voice....Milo Dunderville. Final Answer. You, sir, have excellent musical memory or ears or both. I wasn't really trying to be secretive. BlooTattue is one of the random names I submitted under a while back when I got tired of myself and tired of doing reviews and tired of preconceived ...

I keep coming back and looking at this so I'll throw my hat in. Let's let my stuff include the LMNOP entries in the songfight archive and the Milo Dunderville entries in Nur Ein V.

Underlight: Shades of Truth

Anyone know anything about this? I just got a very polite but real-name-lacking email from someone, asking permission to use something I made in some online play-for-free game. I understand this to be a non-commercial labor of love and I am inclined to let them have at it. Writing this post is, I th...

If I may turn the tables, please report back on anything great you find in Milwaukee or Detroit. We let ballparks pull us around on summer vacations (got back two hours ago from DC - caught Royals @ Nationals on Tuesday and Marlins @ Orioles on Thursday) and we haven't done Milwaukee or Detroit yet.

My preference would be to have Milo walk off into the sunset, never to be heard from again. The truth is so underwhelming that it would be better left unsaid. But it was never my intention to fool or disrespect anybody so here's your reveal. You might remember that Albatross got it right after the s...

Re: Keyboard amp recommendations, please

@ Jim T.: Pretty much what AJ said on the XLR thing but that isn't what I was calling important. My point was that if you plug something into a speaker-out jack on some amps, it switches off the internal speaker. So you've basically got a big ol' pre-amp. For this application, I'd like the amp's spe...

Re: Keyboard amp recommendations, please

I just plugged directly into the house PA. Was this a bad idea? Nothing wrong with that at all. Biggest negative is not being able to hear yourself if you can't get an individual monitor mix. So think about going a little bigger without getting ridiculous and needing a dolly just to move your amp a...
