I haven't done any songfighting for a while, but it usually takes me around three days. So I'll be one of the ones that spends most of their free time doing it. Now when I say three days, I don't mean 72 actual hours of writing and production. It's something like first day writing, second day record...

Rather than actual videos using real footage you could do simple animations with Flash or Image Ready. That could put it within reach of a greater number as you wouldn't have to get dv cameras and whatnot. The bandwidth would be a lot lower that way. The bandwidth could be capped and perhaps the dim...

Video fight

Just wondering if there has ever been a video fight? I mean a video to go with the song of course. Most of us are using software to create our music, or at least record and mix our music, so what about that pop video. I don't know if that could be done in a week, but could be interesting or just a d...

Charles, the "Half a Stone" on my download page is a different version. It was my original idea for the song where I read from Jack Kerouac's "On the Road". It doesn't have the bridge that was used in the songfight version. The reason I thought that this might not be kosher was t...

Feedback needed

Towards the end of last year, sometime in October I think I was asking people here to help with ideas for an album project. Well I still feel I'm at square one with the idea for a theme or concept, something that will run through it all. So what I've done is to put together some past works into an a...

Only just saw the deadline extensio but I submitted. I have a sore throat and a string missing on my guitar, but this is the 4th time in a row that I've written a song and didn't record it. So no excuses this time. I suppose I could tweak and submit again, but don't think I will.

Too Far Away lyrics

Too Far Away - Bell Green Now all that I wanted is too far away Where I can't touch you, I can't feel you And I was hoping you'd stay. Now all that I wanted is too far away Where I can't see you, I can't hear you As you're fading away. 'Cos I wanted to tell you that you're always welcome I wanted to...

Out of your options that you have mentioned I would go for the nice acoustic guitar and a pair of good condensers for recording. But then that was my last upgrade when I had some spare cash. The last time you recorded a song, what was it in particular that made you think, "I wish had a . . .&qu...

I was going to put together a compilation of christmas songs to play over the festive season and then I came across Diana Krall's latest offering - Christmas Songs. Very classy and elegant. If you're fed up of hearing Slade every year on the radio, then get this and the true magic of christmas comes...

I use Logic Pro myself and I think for the kind of flexibility that you are looking for it may be worth paying a bit to get a decent software package. There's Pro Tools of course which does require digi's own hardware, but now there's the whole M-powered thing with some of m-audio's hardware. Motu's...

Yeah, maybe that's the way to go. My system with all it's hardware and software and all the tinkering I've done inside the machine is all pretty solid and stable. Even my wife has stopped using her laptop and has her own user account. So maybe I should stop worrying about the whole upgrade thing and...

Upgrade, upgrade, upgrade

This whole upgrading and updating thing is frustrating the hell out of me. I'm not a computer person really but do try and keep abreast of things, but you look away for a minute and it's all changed. It just seems to be moving faster and faster. What's that rule about CPU speeds doubling every six m...

Wow. This sounds daunting yet promising as well. I used to be in bands a long time ago and started working on my own mainly due to band politics and basically the compromise. You have complete control when you work alone. But you have to motivate yourself as well. When I have worked with others rece...

Finding a collaborator/music partner

Hey, if this has been discussed somewhere else then please delete this thread and direct me there. I don't really want to form a band as such in order to play live, but would like to find someone with a similar background and taste in music with whom I can work. Someone who lives nearby, so they cou...

It's worth looking at the reputation of the hosting company. Some are offering really good deals in terms of space and bandwidth for price along with extras like databases and blogs. But you may find that their uptime is pretty low, below 80%, or their support is not very good. (I'm not refering to ...
