Re: Nur Ein XII - Round One

73 Keep it Beautiful - This song puts me in my happy place. The counter melody reminds me of Elliott Smith. Balance Lost - I like the spoken word bits, interesting lyrics, spoken convincingly. Not sure the song itself really hangs together though, it seems like the different elements don't really je...

Re: Nur Ein XII - Round One

Just a reminder that the After You listening party is happening right now on YouTube. Of course the actual songs don't start for another 30 minutes, but the pre-show is actually pretty great, where Tommy spins a bunch of his favorite SF and Nur Ein songs. Good stuff.

Heh, I felt exactly the same way Lunkhead, if you want a co-host, let me know.

Cool, thanks for looking into it. In the meantime, would it be possible to temporarily drop the mp3 files into a public directory so we can listen to the songs? Thanks!

Re: Nur Ein XII - Round One

Currently: listening to CDs, getting excited for Sebadoh and Tobin Spout tonight and thinking, "well, their recordings are even scrappier!" In as of this morning. Fuck ya! I listened to a lot of Sebadoh during my 90s lo-fi period, and Tobin Sprout is one of my favorite songwriters ever. I...

Re: Nur Ein XII - Round Zero

Your melody on "Cross my heart and hope to die, / I had my fingers crossed each time" is straight from the Beatles' "All My Loving." Heh, yup. I was terrified that Ryan would realize that and at the last minute and we'd be forced to change it, but luckily he didn't. I'm calling ...

Howdy Wendy, welcome to SongFight!

Historically the phrase applied to new folks here is "please be awesome", but having heard some of your stuff you already seem awesome, so please cary on. Hope you have fun in Nur Ein and stick around for some of the bi-weekly fights here.

Re: Nur Ein XII - Round Zero

So are any of the other judges going to weigh in with reviews that might help explain their voting? One judge in particular seems to be a bit of a statistical outlier, and I'd love to hear what they liked and didn't like about some of the songs.

Re: Nur Ein XII - Round Zero

Loving all the reviews folks, keep 'em commin'! 73 Keep It Beautiful - Sha-la-la-la-la. The backwards guitar swells and solo sound super musical, and are not at all a burden on the song. Kept it beautiful, good job. Something about the interval from 'fingers' to 'crossed' is super familiar to me, an...

Fingers Crossed by Jerkatorium When I told you that I love you well I had my fingers crossed. When I said that I’d be true to you, you better bet my fingers were crossed then too. Cross my heart and hope to die, I had my fingers crossed each time and so that’s why I won’t apologize for any of my lit...

j$ - Oh man, I love all the rhymes on this song, the 'future song historians' line is probably my favorite. Re: Just a drop in the (Ocean of Blood prefight)

I did a google search. Apparently there is a small niche of viking/ doom metal bands that use accordion. I listened to 30 seconds of Finsterforst, but didn't hear accordion. You can see it and hear it in this video. This link is about 10 seconds away from DOOM METAL ACCORDION! https://youtu.be/PLvj...
