Re: Circle of Titles 2021

I have the instrumental in decent shape, but I still need to write the lyrics and record the vocal.

Re: On My Way Home

On My Way Home by Lichen Throat Miles above the mid-Atlantic In seat 14A, Open ocean so gigantic, Clouds of white and grey. Budapest lies far behind; There’s blood in the water in Melbourne. Sarah’s getting reassigned, Her welcome now outworn. On her way home to where the buffalo roam, And hamburge...

I'm in with Part 3. More words I wasn't sure how to pronounce. At least it was proper names this time.

Re: To Die On This Hill WORDZ

To Die on This Hill by Lichen Throat Sarah got a job at the Chronicle , Spent four years at the city desk, Covering car crashes and garbage strikes; It wasn’t exactly picturesque. She’d ride her bike all over the hills, Dripping sweat and screaming thighs, Shivering in winter chill, No big scoops, ...

Re: It's never enough... (We Did Everything We Could reviews)

Banda de Luchadores Melodiosos—At first I though this sounded like musical theater, then a World War I era tavern song, then a Queen song. It also seemed like a light-hearted version of Bob Dylan’s “With God on Our Side.” You’re probably doing something right if one song can evoke so may different t...

Re: Was it enough? (We Did Everything We Could prefight)

I'm not sure it was the most conceptually coherent idea to write an electronica song set in the fall of 1950, but I did it anyway. Also, you can't really tell it's 1950 without doing more googling of minutiae than any sensible person would do. I don't know if that makes it better or worse.

Re: Let me count the ways... (Abuse Of Power reviews)

Berkeley Social Scene—I like the chorus a lot more than the verses. The guitar performances all are good, and I conceptually like how there’s a little solo at the end of each verse, but the choruses are the main highlights for me. Brown Word and the Big Whine—The intro sounds very British invasion t...

Re: Abuse of Power

Abuse of Power by Lichen Throat Out among the orange groves, In a drafty house with an old wood stove, Sarah woke to a chilly dawn, Spots of frost in the patchy lawn. Leaden sky as smudge pots burned, Oily smoke rose up and churned. Her mom worked at the aircraft plant all during the war. Now that ...

Re: Here's an alternative to (House Arrest reviews)

1b92d9ce-8365-428c-a81f-bd1ab8d9522b—It doesn’t sound all that similar, but this reminds me of Babylon Zoo’s “Spaceman.” I think this could awesome if you added a soaring vocal over all the noise. The noise itself is well done. Not quite my thing, but it’s still pretty cool. Berkeley Social Scene—Th...

House Arrest by Lichen throat Can distant things look like they’re close? What could cause such an effect? Maybe two lenses? Hey, who knows? One concave, the other convex? If it works I can sell them to Venice And maybe they’ll give me a raise. Or find a new patron in Florence, And just do my resea...

Re: Nur Ein XVI: Round Two "Drag Me Around"

I’m not reviewing as a guest judge this time, just as a normal eliminated entrant. Reviews of shadows are mixed in alphabetically with all the others, to avoid giving anyone short shrift. Balance Lost—I love the jangly guitar tone. The song is good overall, too; I’m surprised you didn’t score a litt...
