Re: The Song Fight Excuse List

OW, it's been months since we did a damn thing. Our singer had sinus surgery and then was diagnosed with a rare form of Vasculitis. The guitar/ukulele player developed sores on his hands that prevent him from playing fretted instruments.
Hopefully we will return with a new lineup. Maybe a solo effort.

Re: I Made a Deal with the Devil (Oh My Soul Reviews)

Our Writer/Singer had sinus surgery so we didn't do anything for this or the next fight. No axes to grind. Lots of very nice entries. We are glad that people of all skill levels are participating. We look at this contest for the "song" value rather than production value so sometimes it is ...

Re: Should all the bad songs be forgot (Auld Lang Syne reviews)

Cornfield - Melody reminds me of a combination of Tom Waits’ “Time” and the Taize hymn “I am the Bread of Life,” but I don’t mind. Lyrics are effective in their simplicity and straightforwardness. The performance is a bit rough, but I’m imagining a small group singing it at 3 am on January 1st, ami...

This is our first time at reviewing here. If you don't like our opinions, you know where to put them. Cornfield: Song reads like it was written in the middle of the night (it was). The end product shows all of the love that can be packed into 30 minutes of arrangement, practice and recording. We lea...

Auld Lang Syne

And we sang Old Lang Syne
And we kissed at midnight
And we swore the New Year would be better than
The one we left behind

Yesterday is gone
Tomorrow is on the horizon
May all memories be sweet
And pains never brought to mind

A woman is on trial for beating her husband to death with his guitar collection. Judge says, ‘First offender?’ She says, ‘No, first a Gibson! Then a Fender!’” One of us is planning on stealing that joke. The Bartender said "We don't allow time travelers here." A few moments later a time t...

Re: Stick it in your ear! (High School Safety Pin Parade reviews)

..... Cornfield - Congrats, you wrote, performed, and recorded a credible sounding folk song. This is a decent first Song Fight entry, with well thought out lyrics. I like the resigned, low-key way you sing it, it kind of projects a feeling of sadness -- that is until the penultimate line where you...

Re: Stick it in your ear! (High School Safety Pin Parade reviews)

Chumpy and I had done the 400x400 pixels cover art to include all bands that had posted lyrics and/or mentioned they'd be submitting to the HSSPP fight (it all looks like slop at the 150x150 front page resolution so we went 'clean' for that version). I don't want to leave anyone out though, so here...

Our lyrics for HSSPP have fluctuated wildly. We had to Google a lot of terms like "school" to try to figure this out.

Another Newbie here

We've been lost in the maize for years. These children of the corn are ready to fight. Unfortunately, the musical instruments provided by Mother Nature do not record well. We'll try to make do with what we can dig up in this strange world into which we have been thrust. BTW: Thanks to whoever approv...
