Re: XOXO Fest 2018

Oh, looks like I still can buy one, it's just that it's only guaranteed for 48 hours.

But, still, feels like a lot of money for a thing I'm not sure how much I'll be into.

Re: XOXO Fest 2018

Oops, I had 48 hours to buy a ticket on the 5th, and didn't. Guess I could reapply, but... nah. Too expensive for me right now.

Re: Gift of Music 2017-2018

That would be me. I’ve been meaning to do it and I’m sorry that I’ve been both busy and constrained with severe wrist problems.

If it's any consolation, I've been stiffed on most of the sidefights I've participated in over the past two years (including this one).

Re: The Great Big Songfighter Birthday Thread

yeah my 18th anniversary of participating will be January 29. I'm pretty sure I've gotten to be a better musician since then. Or maybe the tools have made it easier to sound good. Whichever it is, this site has been very helpful in my development as a composer and producer.

Re: The Great Big Songfighter Birthday Thread

By my reckoning, today is the 18th birthday of Song Fight!. This website is now an adult, capable of voting for itself.

18 years is an eternity on the internet. Amazing that it’s still going.

Re: I'm a trans man

Oh hey, congratulations on feeling comfortable enough with yourself and with this community to come out. It can be such a great feeling, even if you don't know what you're going to do with it yet.

Also it's nice to see another openly trans person here. :)

Wish someone would rescue Last Man on Earth. The last season ended on a cliffhanger and it deserves better. Even a short wrap-up season.

Gnoosic

Interesting little music recommendation engine. Seems similar to a thing I was thinking about building years ago, only they went ahead and actually built it, and probably better than I could have. :) http://www.gnoosic.com Although it seems to have gotten pretty popular in the last few days and is s...

Re: Augmented Reality Drones

The LM is definitely my favorite of the three, mostly because I had so much fun doing the sound design for it. :) Although the sound design was a lot of fun for all of them. I did a twitch stream when I was making the sound effects for the flames and confetti and whatever. Apparently people enjoy wa...

Re: DAW-talk

Oh, definitely. Although if I'm auditioning just a specific section with start point I put it into cycle mode, which has the side effect of always starting playback at a certain point in addition to looping the section. But yeah, different DAWs work differently and so do different peoples' brains. I...

Ah, neat. That's somewhat different than what I was describing and it actually sounds kind of unwieldy to me, but at least they're thinking about ways of expanding the possible repertoire of operations you can do on a track.

Re: DAW-talk

Sure, in Logic you can switch into an automation mode where there's a bunch of tools that let you simply draw a curve and it's smart about adding/removing points, setting splines, etc., and all of the different tool modes are accessible from simple keyboard shortcuts. It's also really easy to organi...
