Re: When you turn 47 (Peak Misery prefight)

Sad you're not gonna be Celine Dion-ing this one (said nobody ever) but maybe this is life's way of telling you to make instrumental music. P.s. hope you get better soon. P.p.s I love the sound of your voice. P.p.p.s. I think I'm suffering sarcasm withdrawal from living in a country which doesn't u...

Re: When you turn 47 (Peak Misery prefight)

In! I managed a slightly less broken lead vocal before submitting, thankfully. Really enjoyed this one, had fun going a bit retro wall-of-sound.

Re: When you turn 47 (Peak Misery prefight)

Thank you! I drew it in Paint.net.

I really liked yours too, but I wish one of the phrases was "song fight", because it'd make me laugh to see it in there among the miseries.

Re: When you turn 47 (Peak Misery prefight)

I'm only 37 so I'm going to write a song, but spend ten years on it. Actually I've gotten the music recorded but lost my voice due to annual cold / flu that literally always occurs during FAWM when I most want to be singing. Hopefully I'll be fighting fit by the weekend, otherwise I'll have to recru...

Funny that y'all keep comparing it to the Boo Radleys, I've only listened to Giant Steps a couple times, thought it was okay, and then put it back on the shelf.
Well, Everything's Alright Forever is a MBV-esque shoegaze album for the most part, it doesn't sound much like Giant Steps.

Re: Give me reviews or give me... (Liberty Street Reviews)

My favourites this round were owl, gizo and Paco. Loved the first half of the Phlebia song probably more than anything else in the fight, it reminds me of the album Everything's Alright Forever by the Boo Radleys (a long-time favourite). You lost me with the change-up though! Enjoyed the Brown Word ...

Re: SpinTunes 16 Round 1 ‘What a Concept’ reviews

Is that you on the low vocals, owl? I thought it was Vom at first; man, your voice is low! I'm jealous. We're both singing on there so the lowest stuff is almost certainly me! Thanks to Cybronica and the judges for your comments. I don't think I'm going to have time to review this time around (mayb...

Re: Cooking

I mostly do pour-over if I'm making coffee at home, generally from freshly ground beans. We also have an aeropress and a nanopresso, but I'm lazy and there's less to wash up with pour-over so it generally wins for me. I've cut way back on coffee though because it generally makes me feel terrible if ...

It's something to do with the lower voltage in the US isn't it? Their strange power grid struggles to drive the humble electric kettle.

Re: Billie Eilish

I get the romantic notion of some kids recording a breakout hit at home. But it doesn't sound like the music has any instruments and they must have only recorded vocals. Then it was professionally mixed and mastered from what I've heard. I don't really get what you're saying here. Drums and synthes...

I think you meant to post this in the "Currently Not Digging" forum.

I like Bad Guy. The rest of her stuff doesn't really do it for me but I love that she's a successful pop artist with her own sound.

Re: Come join in (The Dregs Reviews)

Vom Vorton : Rich low end, though that bass synth sort of clashes with that super thick kick drum and makes it sound a little bit muddy. Personal taste, but I’d prefer a “reedier” tone on your bass synth? Like a pulse wave with a really small pulse width? I’m loving the harpsichords, and your choru...
