Re: Two Bits To Pay The (Toll of the Inferno Reviews)

Berkeley Social Scene - the guitars have a nice crunch to them, the melody is strong and there’s a really strong 70s classic rock vibe to this one. Excellent stuff, I particularly enjoyed how it flows into that really melodic solo and the catchy lead guitar work over the outro. You’ve even got some ...

Re: Toll Of The Inferno

(Vom Vorton) records tell of a mighty blaze back in seventy-six at the place where the local disco fiends got their fix that place burned, baby burned but will we ever learn, baby, learn? only three guys survived (the composers of “stayin’ alive”) but what was the toll (what was the toll) of the inf...

Hmm, I recorded something at the weekend but didn't like it very much. Maybe I should give it another listen and see if it can be saved...

Re: BoJack Horseman

The episode told from the perspective of Princess Carolyn's descendant did a pretty good job of shattering my heart.

But, you know, in a good way.

Re: Don't have a cow! (Sacred Coward Reviews)

Vom Vorton : There is a section between verses where you hear it without any vocals, that might have been better if it was only half as long. vomvorton : At times it seems like the same thing repeats a little too much though. Yeah, you've got me there. Because I was doing this album-in-a-month thin...

Re: Don't have a cow! (Sacred Coward Reviews)

Soundsword - there are definitely parts of this that feel unfinished, but I really like the vibe and love your voice! This reminds me a lot of the band Wheat, who have been a favourite of mine for a long time. Unfortunately I've already voted (which was foolish of me, given the submission problems f...

Re: Don't have a cow! (Sacred Coward Reviews)

Chumpy - love that jangly chord progression, and the vocal melody is very catchy. On first listen I felt like it was maybe a touch too long, but revisiting it this morning I think I was wrong. Strong lyric and good take on the title. Micah Sommersmith - you deserve a lot of points for the coward / H...

Re: BoJack Horseman

I'm working through season 4 at the moment. There hasn't been a peak to match the underwater episode from season 3 yet but it's brilliant stuff. Probably my favourite show currently "airing", if I can still use that word in our digital age.

I recorded a synthpop album in a month!

I spent November doing the NaSoAlMo challenge , and challenged myself to do a totally electronic album (partly because I wanted to learn to use the new Ableton Live licence I got with a new USB keyboard and partly just because I've been neglecting synths recently). The three tracks I've recorded for...

Re: Sacred Cowards

(Vom Vorton) noone likes being told that they’re wrong when they declare their love for a film or song (back down! back down you sacred coward!) but when consensus is declared I can’t help feel a little scared (back down! back down you sacred coward!) all I ever wanted was to share my hate for somet...

Re: Hope that's not your band name (I Don't Like Crowds reviews)

James Moate - there’s a lot to like about this, it’s mostly well produced and atmospheric, but I just can’t get on board with the vocal FX, it just sounds weird to me to use autotune (?) for this kind of vocal where the rhythm is more important than the melody anyway. I know it’s a thing a lot of pe...

Re: Hope that's not your band name (I Don't Like Crowds reviews)

Vom Vorton J: This sounds like a really dope NES soundtrack. I actually could listen to that intro music through at least a dozen levels. The lyrics in this song are strong. “Can you feel the waves of discomfort that I radiate?” is a great line. The tone of your singing voice is great for this song...

Re: Take A Deep Breath And Smell Those (Foxglove reviews)

While listening to the new batch of songs, I spotted that zczero has posted some thoughts on these songs here: https://critiquebrainz.org/review/3417b ... f13f2a6c26 (that URL was listed in the mp3 tags).

Congrats to Fractal Elves, well deserved!

(Vom Vorton) if you met an elephant neither of you would remember it and when you wear sunglasses indoors you won’t feel the benefit in close quarters I can’t help but criticise I hope you can’t see the truth if you happen to meet my eyes staying hydrated so underrated but the bar is overpopulated t...
