Re: Last warning: (Please Scream Inside Your Heart reviews)

Ok, it took a while, but here’s my reviews, no particular order: Robyn Mackenzie: the best part is when you add in the layered vocals. From there to end it much more interesting. The solo vocal sound a bit exposed, and under supported. It really emphasizes the pitchiness, too. The pitchiness isn’t t...

Re: Last warning: (Please Scream Inside Your Heart reviews)

Cybronica – ...I mean I can’t fault the production or the technical ability, it’s all performed and put together superbly... Woo hoo! Honestly, I wrote the song in an evening, and spent the rest of my time making this a case study for working to improve my production skills, so I am delighted by yo...

Coming out of the woodworks to say that I am IN with a song that was mainly done to practice my mixing technique (thanks to Grumpy Mike for the feedback!)

Right now I'm re-constructing Mandibles' song and documenting it. Maybe at a future date I'll reveal a shiny new rendering to Abigail during a podcast? Seems like people might be interested in that.
Im totally in!

This is great! I mentioned this elsewhere, but I just want to say this is my favorite song of yours. It’s beautiful, with a good momentum and a lovely swell, and the way you incorporate the photo’s back story into words is really well done. Thank you!

Re: NUR EIN XV - Homestretch

Mandibles This song grapples with the feeling of hopelessness when awful things are happening- a broken relationship, a crisis of self, and the dispelling of the vision of the life you thought you were going to live. People keep telling you that it will be ok, that things will go back to normal, tha...

Hey, Mandibles sent in a shadow just before midnight, but I’m not seeing it in the line up. Did it get left off?

North Beach Vampires By Mandibles ‘Cause we’re the north beach vampires We spent the whole spring stuck inside Yeah we’re the north beach vampires The sun is out; there’s no reason to hide! Re: Nur Ein XV Round Five "North Beach Vampires"

You know how when you haven’t properly gone outside for a really long time (Like months) and you lose any glimpse of a tan you might have had and you joke about Being a vampire because you haven’t seen the sun in so long? Also you know actual vampires? Yeah, that’s what Mandibles’ song is about.

Re: Nur Ein XV Round Four "Carte Blanche"

...I appreciate Abigail's perspective as a classically trained singer/ musician. I think my big takeaway is breath support. TBH I’m delighted that that’s your big takeaway, and even more so delighted that the big takeaway wasn’t that I’m a giant freaking nerd. I had a really lovely time on the podc...

Re: Nur Ein XV Round Four "Carte Blanche"

Cybronica, I'm sorry to bear bad news, but you were incorrect about my having been in a choir. I have spent a lot of time hanging out with the choir and musical theatre kids, and know a fair bit about the theory of vocal technique... I am again corrected, but this time I sit for it. And, as far as ...

Re: Nur Ein XV Round Four "Carte Blanche"

In terms of my recording setup, I took a picture for you! I’m definitely a stand-upperer, currently in that tiny space between two printing presses. I have historically been terrified to sing in front of anyone, but am definitely aware of my faults and trying to work on my delivery. I think/hope I’...

Re: Nur Ein XV Round Four "Carte Blanche"

Thanks for the reviews, all! I really enjoy reading them. :) Mandibles - This started out as a very promising song! Those verses are excellent, but I do not like the chorus at all. You have written half of a song that is a very good Bond theme. The horns, and overall instrumentation are quite good. ...

Nur ein xv r4 I didn’t have time for full reviews, so here are some short thoughts on rear window: Glow worm: GOD DAMN. I like the raw emotion in the voice. the synth at the verses is a great counter. Dropping out the instruments under the two of you in burn to the ground. Rear window shopping is an...

Re: Nur Ein XV Round Four "Carte Blanche"

Mandibles are in, featuring brass from a couple of friends I've made along my travels. Bond movies generally have 3 key players: Bond, the villain, and the femme fatale. In our hypothetical movie, however, there is no villain, because the femme fatale plays both roles. She's Bond's US equivalent- a ...
