Re: Berkeley Social Scene - Secret Places Hidden Spaces

Sam put a lot of work into the mixing of this. The songs are much more solid than in their original incarnations. Thanks, Sam! Glennny painted the album cover! Thanks, Glen! Can't wait till the mastering's done! Check out BSS's new album "Secret Places Hidden Spaces", out now for preview release on ...

Re: Planning a full album, or how to inject excel into every part of life

Everything serves you as the artist and your vision. Can you explain what this is? Like others have said, it's a project and and all projects are are constrained by the iron triangle of budget, time and scope. And scope isn't limited to the audio - there's marketing, promo, distro, publishing, perfo...

Re: How did you find out about Song Fight?

I became friends with Lunkhead in real life through his at-the-time roommate's girlfriend I was friends with back in Boston. I guested on a BSS track or two some years later without ever knowing what SF even was. Years later (2019) I finally started playing more regularly with BSS and even started s...

Re: A long four years

The Trump administration, the Trump campaign and, most importantly, the GOP at large, together are currently attempting a bloodless coup with regards to this not-close presidential election. (And it wasn't close, by popular vote or by Electoral College standards). They consider Democrats to have no ...

I look forward to seeing how these differ from the NE originals. A couple of those I liked a lot.

This Smithsonian interview with EVH from 2015 has a bunch of gold nuggets. Talks about moving to the US, building his Frankenstein guitar, how he came up with tapping and more.

Re: Song Fight! Live(Stream) - September 2020

I uploaded a vid of a six-song set last night, including a solo version of a BSS number.

Much fumbling to get to a <2gb file and audio that wouldn't distort on export. Fun!

Re: Nur Ein XV Round Three "Rear Window"

In response to the podcast, the BSS song actually started off with Ken making a version of the drum track. I went and wrote all the music parts on the guitar, to the drums. Ken wrote lyrics, Geech revised them a lot. Geech sings lead and his kids' piano teacher if the guest vocalist in the bridge. ...

Shutdown Reviews Brown Word and the Big Whine : The song itself is sort of grunge-by-numbers, except for the pirate-sounding middle bit. Like Mudhoney’s kid brother? The weirded vocals really put me off. They sound a little like Jello Biafra meets the chipmunks? Chthonic Chthock : Should I be doing ...
