Re: Nur Ein XIX Round One "Is This A Joke To You?"
Jonathan Swift really LOVED fart jokes. Is this a joke to you? Hot Pink Halo *** Hey Jon, pick up that bass We’re going low, low, low, low, low, low, low It’s time to speak your mind Let rip a long-winded flow, flow, flow, flow, flow, flow, flow I was never any good at jokes But the punchline is th...

Re: Nur Ein XIX Round One- "Is This A Joke To You?"
I have no idea how to do that, but I'll try to figure it out before Sunday this time. Is that part of the bounce process from the DAW (Logic Pro for me) or something added later? You can add a handful of ID3 tags from the MP3 bounce setting in Logic. Just make sure you have MP3 both ticked and sele...

Song notes: This guy put a flyer through my letterbox last week asking me, an immigrant, to vote for him in the local council elections. Yeah nah M8. In the past few years there have been rising incidents of accommodation earmarked for asylum seekers being set on fire by those who have fallen prey t...

Re: Nur Ein XIX Round Zero- "For Your Consideration"
Please note: You don't need to couple every instrument you use, just one acoustic/ electric pairing. If you don't have the acoustic/electric version of your instrument of choice, get creative. Samples would work. Virtual instruments probably. Make a convincing argument. This is musical Taskmaster s...

Re: Nur Ein XIX Round Zero- "For Your Consideration"
Dear Nur Ein overlords,
Do you mean say, an acoustic guitar and a different electric guitar?
An electric guitar and that same electric guitar acoustically recorded?
Could I play 01 PIANO and 02 ELEC PIANO on my Casio SA-1 and meet the challenge?
Kind regards, etc.

Oh, I’ve just listened to my bit now (don’t worry, I will go back and listen to the whole 6+ hours; you deserve it), and you said such nice things! Thank you. None of you asked, but I’ll say where my song came from anyway. When I’m stuck for an idea I’ve taken to searching in the large Australian ar...

Re: SpinTunes 22 Round 2 Challenge: Marco! Polo!
It's a really charming track and sticks out because of how quirky the rhythm is. Not sure about the f-bomb. I can't decide whether it cheapens it or adds that shock factor. Ha! I know an F-bomb always divides, but those response parts are made up of actual things real people wrote in a guestbook I ...

(Sometimes I choose logic presets purely for their names. Making an angry song about colonialism? British Invasion. Missing home? Dublin Delay. Feeling silly? Pop Sparkler. Etc. And by sometimes I generally mean “all the time”.)

A Grand Parade , Hot Pink Halo *** Roll up roll up It’s time to start the show It’s the show at the show Of the show about the show There’s a prize winning bull Draped in ribbons and in fame Cut the lino, cut the crap Cut a mount for the frame And join the grand parade Give it time and accept that ...

Re: SpinTunes 22 Round 1 Challenge - 'Weather Report'
Starting on my impressions of the songs this round. Can't say they're reviews, but more what went in and out of my head while listening to the tunes while we wait on the judges to opine. Your mileage may vary. Thanks for sharing your thoughts Tommy! I probably won’t get around to reviewing Round 1,...

Re: SpinTunes 21 Round 3 Challenge - 'Connect the Thoughts'
Cavedwellers(?) almost got cut for not doing the challenge properly once, I think. Word count restriction, and they had one extra word that no-one picked up on until it was too late, so it was let slide.

Re: SpinTunes 21 Round 1 Challenge - 'Y-Axis'
I took a look in my DAW to double check and it looks like you're about 134ms ahead of the beat on the "if" in the line "if we just sit here eating cake". I've marked the words "if" and "we" as markers 1 and 3, and the drumbeat and guitar strum that follow tho...

Re: SpinTunes 21 Round 1 Challenge - 'Y-Axis'
The stumbly, oddly timed kalimba has a real groove hidden in there somewhere but it's hard to tell if it's just a little too much swing for my taste or if it's just loose performance. In the context of the other production and performance blemishes I think it's not intentional. Thanks for reviews! ...
