Re: Abuse of Power

Abuse of Power - Night Sky I can still hear him hollering From down the hall I can still hear her bargaining And making that call You got the motion You got the time Power ain’t a gift And it ain’t no crime But you were towering over Instead of powering up What the hell what a waste Of the juice yo...

Night Sky will be in, but late. Not enough horns recorded yet.

Re: Here's an alternative to (House Arrest reviews)

1b92d9ce-8365-428c-a81f-bd1ab8d9522b is indeed the artist name and it's the output from a UUID generation tool. As for the track, running a volca sample through a fuzz pedal and an envelope filter and chanting meaningless hype slogans is really fun, you should try it. As for the genre tag, industri...

Re: Bark at the (Full Moon On Friday reviews)

Great fight, all, thanks for the reviews! Banda de Luchadores Melodiosos : Lots of cool bits, especially the little leads that come in and out, and you certainly nailed the genre. Feels a little loose/shambolic in places. Ben Crenshaw : I dunno, I don’t have a problem with f-bombs, but they’re ubiqu...

House Arrest - Night Sky I have walked the cobblestones at midnight in old Paris Crossed the seven seas by kayak and by submarine Stood beside the Moais for an easter island sunrise Now I’m bound, hypnotized by your mahogany eyes You got me under house arrest You spun a web, cast your binding spell...

Night Sky is in. No one listens to one of our songs for the glockenspiel solo, so we skipped the optional challenge this week.

Re: Try and at least give us (Three Quarters reviews)

What the hell, here are some late reviews. Great fight, with a higher than usual video game song quotient. a.flaim : Great instrumental performances, arrangement and mix. Vocal delivery is great, and you've heard enough about the intonation. Really like the bridge to nowhere/outro. Amby Moho : Lots ...

Re: Full Moon On Friday

Full Moon on Friday - Night Sky feat Heine - Heine contributed acoustic guitars and some backing vocals on this one. Re: Ah-woooo! (Full Moon On Friday prefight)

Night Sky is in with a collaboration with Heine. He provided guitars and some backing vocals. I gave him way less time than he gave me, so I take full responsibility for any less refined bits.

Re: Try and at least give us (Three Quarters reviews)

You might like prefer the instrumental version , which has about 16 seconds more whistling. Yes, it's even nice. Now I discovered the slides (with the bass?). Very cool, but a bit burried in the mix. So, that way I came to listen to your "I'm covered in it now" and your fine sax playing. I've recen...

Re: Try and at least give us (Three Quarters reviews)

Night Sky - Dunno quite how to classify it. Old timey American folk music? If the recording was more scratchy I could imagine it being a whatshisname...Alan Lomax archival recording. It stands out from all the other entries in a good way. I don't know how to classify anything I do except that it's ...

Re: Try and at least give us (Three Quarters reviews)

Night Sky Great, clean start. It would be good to use real hand-claps in this one, just record 10-takes for a couple bars and loop it. Might also be good to bring the claps in and out so they’re steady throughout. Whistling is great. The vocals need some variety in delivery and melody. Thanks! Hand...

Re: One coin shy of a buck (Three Quarters prefight)

Fightmaster willing, Night Sky is in. I guess we did cheat, though, because we're late. The vocals in this one are unrefined enough that I really should have submitted it as an instrumental, which I nearly did.

Re: Don't look now... (Miss Lovely Eyes reviews)

Thanks for the reviews, and glad my silly 50s intentions came across and my simple guitar riffs worked and were enjoyed by some. I added the harmonies on the intro/chorus/outro riff on a whim at the very end of the process and was very happy with how they turned out. Night Sky - Night Sky and the Fo...

... homages to the guitar stylings of Pigfarmer Jr and the Steve Miller Band. Have you lost your mind? Evidently. Edited to blame sleepysilverdoor, who in some thread that I’m too lazy to track down dubbed any simple ascending pentatonic riff “the Pigfarmer Jr” intro, or similar. So I kinda had to ...

Re: Don't let the glasses fool you (Miss Lovely Eyes prefight)

In with a short but very repetitive tune with janky vocals and simple, but earnest homages to the guitar stylings of Pigfarmer Jr and the Steve Miller Band. No saxes in this one, which makes two song fights in a row. I guess you need to come to SpinTunes for my saxes for the time being.

Re: SpinTunes 17 Round 2 Challenge

My low point working on our song last week came when I realized that it was clocking in at 4:56. I cut it down to 3:51 by removing empty space (that I was going to fill with saxophones) from the chorus, and then put 12 seconds back in to make a little more space for... saxophones. But if I go down i...
